WestConn RN-BSN at Waterbury

I haven't seen much on Allnurses about Westconn's program. Anyone on here done the RN-BSN, specifically, at the Waterbury/NVCC Campus? Any thoughts, tips, advice etc?

I went to WCSU@Waterbury for one semester Fall 2013, I took 2 classes for the RN-BSN program. The professors I thought were much better than the ones for my A.S program, the courses themselves were not too hard, there were a lot of group projects, presentations and attendance also counted. If you live in that area, it's worth looking into. I think it's a good program. I withdrew because I was commuting from Milford and had just started a new job that required some travel time too. I would much prefer a program that is all online, I don't really need the B&M school anymore. Hope that helps :)

Thanks for the info. Im at NVCC now. I only have 3 more pre-reqs to complete for WestConn's program. I have looked at a lot of schools, and I would have to spend a couple semesters just doing pre-reqs at most of the other schools. One of our instructors informed us that all RN's will be required to have at least a Bachelors by 2020. I am also hoping to get into St Mary's or Waterbury Hospital, so it would be easy to fit this program into my schedule.

I will be starting the RN to BSN program at WCSU in the fall in their new campus in Norwalk, CT...Its going to be at NCC...I will have classes every Tuesday! hope all goes well. Am excited to start and get this out of the way.. I also heard that all RN's need their BSN by 2020. Cant wait to start...:sneaky::nurse:;) Anyone out there who will be starting WCSU rn to bsn program at NCC fall 2014 let me know!! VamRn

I took a couple of classes awhile back and the program was good. I initially got my ASN from NVCC a long time ago and Westconn at Waterbury accepted everything. They have an articulation agreement with the CT community colleges. For example, when I went to NVCC their A&P I and II classes were called Life Science I and II (for nurses) and students had a lot of difficulty transferring these as there was confusion about the courses in the eyes of other colleges. NVCC finally changed the curriculum to A&P. Westconn took these without question.

Anyway, I left the BSN program because it got to be too much at the time going after work 2 nights/week. That was back in 2005 and my kids were younger.

I am now starting an online RN-MSN at Western Governor's University in May. They have a great program- check on allnurses for discussions on this program. They are very affordable too. The nice thing with is that you can take as many courses as you can get done in their 6 month term for one flat rate (approx. $3300).

Can you tell me about the program at NCC, I am interested in attending...can you tell me what you liked or disliked, what were the assignments like, etc?
