West Suburban College Of Nursing

I realize there are many posts on WSC however, the last post was on April, 2009 and I wanted to get feedback from any "new" students. Would you please post your thoughts and current experience about WSC. Also, if you have any information in reference to the Service Learning program, will you please share that as well. I greatly appreciate it. Have a spectacular New Year.

thank you very much.

s5995,

One more questions (well, I may have more later), how long is the program?

I'm considering applying to WSCN and I have read many reviews which leave me with mixed feelings like most readers. I'm extremely concerned about the school reputation. One of the reasons I decided on WSCN is simply because I refuse to wait a year or more to attend a community college and continue my education to earn a BSN.

I would like to hear from anyone who is a current student or alumni. How is the career service department? Have you had problems getting a job? How competitive is the market? I have a great career currently and before I invest time and money I want to ensure that this career change will result in just that a CAREER Change...

Here is a link to view all schools NCLEX-pass rates for Illinois from 2004-2008. Let me know if you found it useful.

Hello,

Just my 2 cents on West Sub. The school's pass rate has significantly improved to 93%. As a previous graduate (recent), I must admit the program was hard, but I believe that goes with the territory; all nursing programs are hard. I passed NCLEX-RN after 75 questions and I felt prepared. The school went through a major transformation while I was attending, but I believe this has stabilized now. The program offers a "role transition" course which not all schools do. Most of us were offered jobs during our role transition course. I recommend their program and believe it's worth it in the long run. The BSN definitely prepares you for a management/leadership position. It also allows you to more easily advance your education/career to the next level --MSN/APN. IMHO, I think you have a better chance of getting a job through one of Resurrection's facilities than you do elsewhere. Good luck on your decision!

I just wanted to say that I am a recent grad as well and I passed in 75 questions. In fact most individuals that I know of passed in 75 questions. West Sub was a school that went through a lot of changes in the last few years but they really have been for the better. The school really prepares you to become a Nurse and fosters your learning experience with excellent teachers and staff. Give it a try.
