West Suburban College of Nursing vs. Chamberlain College of Nursing?

Published

Hi all, I'm kind of having a hard time deciding which college to go to for my BSN (assuming I get accepted to both). The posts on this site about West Suburban haven't been very encouraging but the program is only 17 months which is a HUGE bonus to me. I have visited Chamberlain and I liked the campus, but I feel like it's so.....FOR profit (i.e. they don't accept some of your transfer credits so that you have to retake them at Chamberlain). Most of that feeling comes from what my advisor Muriel is telling me. But anyways, can people from Westsuburban or Chamberlain comment on this? Any feedback would be appreciated :)

@digitiminimi... hi im having the same issues as did for nursing schools.. deciding between west suburban and chamberlain. Did you ever get into west suburban? If so which school did you choose and would you recommend it? Thanks for your help!!

Sorry this is so late, but yes I got in and currently attend ResU (name changed). For me, I would definitely choose ResU over Chamberlain but for specific reasons. I already had a Bachelors and Chamberlain's curriculum includes so many general ed classes (Economics, Philo, Sociology, History, etc). I've taken that before and some of the classes didn't transfer, plus I don't want to take gen ed classes again. ResU is all nursing classes (your pre-req's have to be done before you start the program). So basically it would've taken me 2.5 years at Chamberlain vs. 16 months at ResU. And I'm more or less happy with ResU. Yes the program is intense and sometimes the admin is unorganized but it's not terrible. If you are coming straight out of high school, then I could see you being happy at Chamberlain because you wouldn't have to repeat any classes you took before or worry about classes transferring.

That's great to hear! I was accepted for fall to start at Resurrection so that's where I ended up choosing for the same reasons you did!

im having a dilemma what r the chances of getting in if i have a 62 on the teas and 3.0 gpa. i have all my pre-requisites for spring 2012
