Has anyone attended the western Pennsylvania School of Nursing? If so id like to know if you liked it and why and would you recommend it to me as a male?

I got an interview for WPH SON today!!!! AHHHH I'm so excited!!!!!

Congrats and good luck!!!

I just saw your post!! Let me know how it went!!

Kayla,

It's next Tuesday!! I'm so excited I'm going shopping for an outfit today...lol

Oh I thought it was the day you posted that!! haha...awww!! Well let me know how it went once you are done!!

Took the TEAS today... The english and reading sections were everything I thought they would be. The science section is WAY harder than the practice exam you can take online via the ATI website (that you pay for mind you). I had taken the practice exam and got a 88% on it but I'm certain my score on the real exam will not be that high. If you are waiting to take the test you should put the most study time here.

I thought the math section was fairly easy however I felt that either there were too many questions given the time frame or the time frame was too short. The way I look at it is the number of questions were comparable to the other sections but the time was also very similar. The reading questions or english questions require simply reading the possible answers and marking the correct one. The math section requires obviously to perform calculations which take time. For example just the act of adding up a list of number to get the average still requires you to add the numbers up then do the division, etc. This is basic math but still requires time to do it. I honestly didn't get all the questions done in time which is aggravating because score wise it will reflect that I didn't know the information which is far from the truth. Although I did mark the ones I didn't get to all "C"... I'm curious how that worked out for me...LOL Oh well, I still think I did fairly well on it. The scores should post soon. I'm not really certain at

Good luck to everyone taking it this weekend and don't forget your printout from the ATI site!

Jakolfleish,

Hey thanks for the info... I am taking the test this weekend and am worried about the science section. I purchased and took the practice test through the ATI testing and got an exact 70% but that was when I first purchased the test and haden't looked at anything. I"m taking it again today in hopes my score comes up after reviewing and studying for the last 6 weeks. Any more tips you could give on the science section would be greatly appericated!!!:)

Thanks

It's hard to give advice on it because it covers such an absurd range of material. If you got the ATI book then by all means make sure you cover all of that. There were a number of chemistry and physics related questions that I was surprised to see. A&P wise, there were some but nothing over the top. There were sadly the obligatory natural science questions that I still feel are absurd to have on there (i.e. know your rock types and the plates). Pretty much everything that you can read about the test online -- it's true.

Easy english and reading -- you have to hurry on the math -- cross section of the sciences that would make even Alex Trebek proud.

Alrighty then.. I took another practice test today and got an 88%, which is good. But I'm still nervous about the science section which I did better on this time around but some of those questions are truly absurd. When are you going to need to know rock types to become a nurse? Seriously!!! Oh well Saturday will be here and I just need to relax till then. What did you do the night before you took your test?

Well... honestly I spent the first half of the day stressing out about it then I got more realistic about it. The test is supposed to test for overall academic knowledge. Which means you are not going to get all of that information down in preparation for a single exam. Furthermore, what possibly am I going to do the night before except brush up on some conversion formulas so they are fresh? If you have reviewed the subjects you are weak on and don't go into the test feeling that the person proctoring your exam is the anti-christ handing you some forbidden text then you'll do just fine.

While your 88% online may or may not equal a 88% on the written exam you can be certain it's not going to end up that far off the mark. It been discussed that they are looking for a 70%ish score from applicants. I can't imagine you are going to score 18% less on the written test. I think that alone should calm your nerves a bit. Good luck and let me know how it went!

Don't forget your ATI number!

Thanks!!! I'll definatly let you know how things end up! And good luck to you and let me know how you did as well!!

Everyone have fun at the TEAS exam today? :yeah:
