Has anyone attended the western Pennsylvania School of Nursing? If so id like to know if you liked it and why and would you recommend it to me as a male?

I move in Saturday also. Currently I am having techincal difficulties signing up for my Anatomy class because the website keeps freezing. Have you been able to sign up?

Specializes in hospice, ortho,clinical review.
Hey, does anyone know how the parking situation works at West Penn? I know they said they can do the whole shuttle thing but is there a way to park in the parking garage? If anyone knows can you please get back to me. I move in this Saturday and have no idea. THANKS :wink2:

No, you can't use the parking garage. People that had cars and stayed at the dorms would usually just keep their cars at the shuttle lot then go "free" them on the weekend as at night the lot gets locked and it's closed on the weekend.

Other people would put in for parking passes at local residents driveways. There's a certain number of residents that offer this but there was a waiting list from my understanding. (the residents that participate sort of lease out their space during the day, it really worked best for commuters.)

Other than that some just dealt with the meters around the circle. However they would have to keep up on it and run out to "feed the meters". Parking tickets were very common. After so many they will boot.

Do you mean for the Clarion classes? If so, I had trouble at first and had to call them. After I called they fixed it after transfering me a couple times. I had like a "hold on my account" or something like that.

Hi just wondering about renting my books instead of buying them for first term? Is that a good or bad idea?? Will I need them throughout the two years/

I'm at the school now for the summer program and from what everyone has talked about i think you'd be better off buying the books. You'll most likely be using them again. Hope That Helps!

hi,i'm considering applying to west penn school of nursing in pittsburgh. on the application it asks why am i interested in a diploma school of nursing and more specifically west penn hospital? i'm not sure how to answer. i do not know the different types of nursing programs out there. can anyone tell me what a good answer to both questions would be? also i heard a rumor that west penn is on probation is that true? i would love to hear why students that are going there chose that particular program and school? thanks a bunch.

Donna, I applied for fall '09 admission and was ultimately denied because I didn't finish my chemistry class before the deadline for the application (at least that's what they said.) I declined to be considered for fall '10 admission for the reason you said - I also heard they were on probation. All that being said, you can take what I'm about to say worth a grain of salt because who knows if it would be effective :jester: Anyway, I said I wanted a diploma school rather than a bachelor's program, for example, because it gave more hands-on experience (which from what I hear, is true.) I also said that I chose West Penn at that time because the hospital itself (not neccessarily the school) is known for it's excellent nursing. It's a magnet hospital, and I've been a patient there a few times myself and have seen that the nursing staff is extraordinary. They seem to have a very altruistic philosophy. If I were you, I'd explore these things a little more in-depth before answering. You want to come up with a genuine answer that you could elaborate on if you were asked to. You don't want to get to an interview (if they do those, I'm not sure) and then have them ask you about what you meant, and then you can't answer, KWIM? Good luck!

I'm applying to the West Penn School of Nursing for Fall 2010 admission and I called and they said that you have to take the ATIT's? Anyone know what these are or have taken them and have any advice? Also any information on the program would be helpful.

Thanks

Heyyyy! when exactly did you end your chemistry class? How close to the deadline were you? I end my Chem class on May 5th and the application deadline is May15th....I'm worried about the same situation that you were in...I can't believe that!!!I'm so worried! I just applied and I obviously can't finish the class any faster because I'm taking it this semester. jeez. And I didn't know that the school was on probation either...that sucks!

Hi guys! I'm Sara, I'm 21 years old, born and raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. I just applied to West Penn School of Nursing and I figured I'd just jump on here and find out if there's anyone else who is applying for the fall so that we could all talk and meet each other and stuff and get a head start. I'm still waiting to go take the ATI TEAS and I'm waiting for my dumb Chemistry class to finish for the semester. I'm cutting it close...the class ends May 5th, the application deadline is May15th. let's hope people can mail their transcripts out pretty quickly. Anyone applying for the fall 2010 class? Planning on living there? It seems like a really good school and it's awesome that they offer housing for student nurses. I'm so excited!!! anyone else?!

Hi Sara,

My names Alyson I too and applying for Fall 2010 admission. I've sent in my application and am just waiting to take my ATIT or how ever it goes test. I registered today to take it on April 17th. And I believe that when I called they told me the application was due April 15th but you can still take the test just everything else is due. I luckily live close to West Penn so I will be commuting but I'm very excited also. Are you planning to attend the open house this weekend March 20th? Mayb I'll see ya there. But it's nice to see someone else who's applying for Fall 2010 admissoin:)

Hi Alyson!

Oh Gosh, I'm stressing out over this application thing. I still have to register for the test, but I will be there on the 20th for the open house too! I'm so excited!!
