West Penn School of Nursing?

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Has anyone attended the western Pennsylvania School of Nursing? If so id like to know if you liked it and why and would you recommend it to me as a male?

I'm not staying on site but I can't say that I saw that mentioned anywhere.

What type of backpack/tote is anyone getting for Fall 2010? I've been reading on here and all the books and everything we have to carry and it being EXTREMLY heaavy!!, I was wondering what everyone is going to be using to carry their books/everythinng else :), or could make any suggestions. Also if any seniors could give and suggestions they'd be greatly apprectiated. :)

Thanks :)

I've been wondering the same thing actually. I'm curious about which books we need to carry around and which are simply to have at home for follow-up when studying (i.e. Taber's).

BTW - There is a place online called Medisave that has good pricing on equipment. While you can get inexpensive stethoscopes there you can get higher end ones like a Littmann Cardiology III for around $160. When I asked the supply place across from the hospital about the same one they came back with a price in excess of $400 including our discount!

Ya I got a Littman Classic II for $50 on ebay brabd new!!!

I'm selling my west penn uniform. Please contact me if interested.

Im taking the ATI test this week and iim really nervous can anyone give me pointers on taking this test, I really want to get in but I get so nervous when I take tests that I bomb them... Please help

monicalovingme26- I currently go to the school and remember taking my ATI test around the same time last year:) I would say just study the ATI practice book, and they have practice tests you can do online and do those and you should be more than ready to take the test!! Also bring Ear Plugs( those are my lifesaver in test taking now) and a sweater/jacket bc if I remember correctly it gets kinda chilly in the basement where I know that I took my test. Also RELAX!!!! What I do now is I take a few deep breaths before I even open my exam bookelt. I hope this helps.... And if you need anything else just post on here I try and read them every so often but school is BUSY!!!!!

Thank you so much and I will bring earplugs and a jacket. I scored a 70 percent on the practice test, should I really be concerned, I'm still keep studying though. Im grateful for your help:)

Thats good...When is your test? If it is Saturday for example just study the rest of this week and then a little Friday morning and dont look at it again enless you want to review some practice prolbems the morning of... And have a relaxing day Friday go out to dinner and get a movie or whateve;)..... And no prolbem I wish I would have had someone who was in the program last year when I was taking the test;)!!!!! Let me know how you do and remember to Relax.... I know easier said than done but try!!! ANC if you need anything let me know!!!

My test is this Saturday at 9:00am. Im a take your advice and keep studying till Thursday and relax Friday. I took the Shadyside nursing exam and I failed the Natural Science portion by one point so that really discouraged so me so I pray do good on this exam cause theres nothing I want to be more than a nurse. Thank you so much for listening to me ramble. :lol2:

Ya this test isn't as bad.... I hope plus they combine all your scores so you don't have to get a certain percent or # correct like other schools.... Np on listening to the rant k did it to abd still do;)

I know this post is a bit old, but I'm graduating from UCONN next spring with a BA in Allied Health and applying to the West Penn School of Nursing. People who have a BA already, what was your GPA when you applied to this program and what type of interview questions did they ask you? Would be very helpful to know :)
