West Hills College Lemoore RN program Fall 2020

Published

Hi everyone!

The application period for fall 2020 opened recently. I wanted to make this discussion for students applying to the RN program. I think this is a great way to discuss stats and questions that anyone may have In regards to the application and program.

I just got an email confirming my RSVP to orientation on the 24th. Did anyone else get one? (I am an alternate)

I got a confirmation too

Y'all,

I'm starting to lose hope that I'll get in this Summer. Being an alternate is nerve wrecking. On one hand, I'm okay with waiting because my daughter will be a little older and I will be able to better plan for her childcare. Also, I'm sure starting school right after this isolation, if it lifts by then, is going to be interesting.

On the other hand, I just want to start and get through it already! I've been an LVN for so long and just want to move forward. ?

Just venting while I wait. ?

After that I rant I checked my email and my status was changed!

Woohoo! I'm officially accepted! I'm so happy and excited. The waiting game is over. Phew!

CONGRATS !! I got in as an alternate ? which isn’t bad since I’m guaranteed a spot anyways. But I’m happy for you! I can’t imagine the stress lifted off your shoulders but I’m hoping to live that moment soon LOL!

The email was a little confusing. It said my status was changed and I am accepted for Fall 2020 but won't start until Jan 2021? I'm confused. I'm sure they'll explain it all next week at orientation.

I think what they mean is that you are accepted into the fall 2020 cohort but since you are doing LVN-RN you start a different semester than traditional students

Darn, thought I would be starting this fall. Oh well ?‍♀️.

I'm super grateful to have a seat.

How many points did you apply with? I’m sure you have a good chance! There is still time!

That’s because you’re already an LVN. The first semester is to catch up those who aren’t LVN’s because technically the first semester is all LVN stuff and the second semester is where everyone is on the same page.

I was in the 87-89 range. That’s what the counselor put me at but I should’ve been accepted with those points. I’m guessing I didn’t earn a point or two and fell under the alternate category

Points must of been high again this year. You should definitely look into where your points didn’t count. I know a counselor can review it with you. Good luck I’m sure you’ll get in!

I was under the impression (maybe just assumption) that LVNs would start during the Summer and then join the current cohorts fall semester. BUT with the way things are set up I am super happy to be joining in with you all.
