Hi everyone! My name is Julian I just applied to WHCC RN program for the Fall 2021 cohort. I thought it would be necessary to create this topic to discuss and talk and freak out about the upcoming nursing selection together LOL. I applied with 91.35 points. Has anyone else applied yet???

Im pretty sure this one is only based off of your points. I think the only one who does lottery near here now is FCC. I don’t know how many get chosen. I haven’t been able to find much info on the west hills program unfortunately.

Because I've lost it and commented about the wrong school! LOL. I applied to Merced college and West Hills and mixed up my nurses threads. ? my brain! I guess I better edit that to not confuse others too. LOL

Tbh I’m not sure. I’m guessing it varies by cohort. I saw on past years threads that people with mid 80’s+ got in. I think it just depends on the application cycle.

LOL! Don’t worry! I should’ve understood that, just wanted to make sure! I completely understand, my head isn’t all here either. Waiting for these responses has me all over the place!

I'm glad I'm not the only one going crazy from all the waiting! I honestly don't think I have the best chance at West Hills because they deduct points for courses not being completed which makes me less competitive. I'm like just let me know so I can move on with my life!! LOL.

hmmm I just calculated my points and apparently I only have 42.. mainly just from my GPAs and the low income and first generation points... I don't have any healthcare experience... but am I missing something?

Did you count the 10 points for your GE classes and the 15 points for the science pre-reqs? At the very end. I almost missed them when calculating.

Believe me, I haven’t been able to sleep all week because we are supposed to be notified from COS this week and hopefully next week from West Hills so yeah you aren’t the only one going crazy! LOL I know I think it’s more of the “not knowing” that makes it worst. Hopefully we find out soon!

Also, if you have an AA or CNA, MA, LVN license even if you don’t have experience. That’s all I can think about..they don’t count TEAS scores there for points unfortunately.

oh I see! that bumps me up to 65 points... I subtracted 2 points from GE because I have never taken a speech class and I also took anthropology instead of soc.... I took Anthro because FCC said u can take either or. IDK if that still counts for west hills or not

well thank goodness that they don't count TEAS because I only got 67% ?

LOL! Don’t worry. They require you pass TEAS with 62 or more but they don’t count it as additional points so it shouldn’t harm you. I’m not sure about the anthro. Most of these community colleges have the same—or close to—requirements, so you should be good. But if you don’t get in, it’s best to double check why. That way next application period you’re more prepared. Hopefully that isn’t the case though! ??
