Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone,

This post is for people who have or are attending West Coast University. I see a lot of people post on here say avoid for profit private schools and that when applying for jobs these hospitals will be hesitant at hiring you because of your education at a for profit private school. So what I'm trying to ask is why did you decide to attend West Coast University? With all this negativity towards these Universities, I would like to hear some positive input about them.

The post was originally for people who go to West Coast and could give me positive input from their experience there.
Please realize that if you create a post, you cannot control who responds to it or prevent those with opposing viewpoints from replying.

Moreover, no West Coast University attendees or graduates have responded with anything positive to say about the program or experiences because few graduates would praise the school.

Tuition is $132,000 for their generic BSN program, which would result in student loan payments that exceed $1,500 monthly over 10 years if you obtain an interest rate of 6.8 percent.

Your time and money are best spent almost anywhere else other than WCU.

Me personally I always think the cheaper the program the less quality of education but I could be wrong. I am willing to spend alittle to get a good education and make sure that I am competent in doing my job because I am choosing a career that I have a passion for and that is taking care of others and helping someone heal.

You're kidding right. Most mainstream programs have things mentioned in your post. But the cheaper program the cheaper the quality? It's a profit, money sucking program. your education is not the priority, your 100+k that you're gonna lose is. That's not a little, that's a down payment on several homes.

Considering nclex rates, clinical placements, and facilities that are willing to hire wcu grads, you'll see why wcu has a low rep. In my area, Socal is saturated w new grad applications from state schools, which produce a good number of students each year. I don't know of any wcu new grads in my hospital, the managers pluck the best they see in Cal state and other well regarded merit universities.
