West Coast University 2014

Published

I am starting West Coast University at the Ontario campus in April of 2014. I would like to create a thread for students in my situation to share information, ask questions, and propose get-togethers, study groups, etc. If you have any information or would like to talk to a fellow student, let me know! I am eager to gain new information and meet new people! I am so excited to start school!

I will be starting in April as well. My tentative schedule for the first semester based on the email i got was Anatomy and Written Comm 1. I'm not sure if that is going to stay the same or not.

Hello fellow future WCU students!

I will also be starting this upcoming April so I just started looking for other people who will be attending as well. I have registration this Friday, March 7th. I'm very excited to learn more about my upcoming classes and meet more people who are attending for the first time. Looking forward to hearing from you and hopefully more people will join this conversation :)

Congrats!! i just recently passed the HESI exam and have an appointment with Financial Aid in two weeks. Did you get your loans using a cosigner?

@amazon13 I received my class schedule the other day and am in anatomy Monday and Tuesday mornings and math on Thursday morning. I go in tomorrow morning 3/14 for registration! Do you have your schedule yet?

@melissamarine LUCKY! I didn't know there was registration last Friday. I go in tomorrow. What was your registration like? What classes were you put in? I look forward to hopefully meeting all of you guys!

@1sildiaz Congratulations on passing the exam! For my loans, my mom was the cosigner. I am not sure if you have to have one. If you call the financial aid office, I'm certain they will be able to tell you if you need one over the phone. Good luck!

I have anatomy on Monday and Tuesday mornings as well. I was throughout suprised about how many people where at the registration. I heard there where around 1100 students total at ontario so that kind of freaks me out about the attrition rate. Im willing to bet its going to be a 3 year cram session.

Did you get any of your classes knocked off by transferring or challenging anything? I had algebra and psych taken off.

@melissamarine

I have to ask, Where you in the military?

@1sildiaz

I did not need a cosigner. The only loans I took where the federal ones that the admission counselor mentioned and handed me the paperwork for. I almost didn't take those either, but I wouldn't have been able to attend if that was the case.

Hi guys, Are all of you going to the ontario campus?

I'm almost finished with my first term at the OC campus.

I'm signed up to start in June at the Ontario campus, but to be honest I'm really starting to worry about the tuition.

I've been worried about the tuition, but if I think as out just tuition, I will never be able to do it. I wish I was able to go through community college but unfortunately that route didn't work for me. I don't let the negative comments affect my decision. Good luck in whatever you decide! ?

Yeah the cost is high but either you can pay a little more and finish in around 3 years or you can pay a third of that and take 3 times as long at a community college (and only get an associates)

I don't agree with those figures -- community college would cost less than a third of the tuition, and I can't imagine it taking 9 years unless your grades are horrible, but I do understand what you're trying to say.

I guess my biggest concern is what happens if I get halfway through the program and can't get approved for the rest of my loans? I didn't have a parent willing to co-sign, it's just me and my husband on the loan. I don't really have a backup plan if there are issues with funding down the line.

I'm definitely not judging anyone for going to WCU, I definitely see the allure. I just have to decide if its worth it for me and my situation right now.
