Anyone attending WCU this year ?
I made this forum to those starting at WCU in 2021 for BSN program. I applied to west coast and my start date is in June. Not sure if ill push my start date to august. I applied to ADN programs at community colleges but its so competitive to get it in and I don't want to keep waiting to start my career. So I transferred all of my pre-reqs except for one that didn't get accepted (chem). I have one semester of Gen ED at WCU since they require mandatory gen ED classes then I start core nursing. My grad date is October 2023.
Any advice or anyone starting this year too?

Hi! I supposedly start for the June 2021 Cohort as well! I'm coming from San Diego and have finished all my pre-reqs in community. I was planning on applying for my ADN but same here, all too competitive. I'm finishing one last english course this Spring and then I'll be able to start at WCU! Currently waiting on my financial aid appt for next week and I'll be able to find out more. :)

Nice! I just had my financial aid appt. It is pricey but they help and give you ways to cover the cost. I need to cover $22,000 per academic year, after FAFSA and fed loans. Id rather not take out any private loans so Hopefully through scholarships and cal grants ill be able to cover the rest , but I just don't know if ill be able to cover it by the June cohort.
Good luck hopefully it all works out for you ?

Based on the competition at the state schools this year, I'm considering applying to WCU too, but I'm still waiting to hear back from those other schools. I've already done the financial aid appointment but I believe I need to submit transcripts to clear some classes. If I apply for August, do you know how soon they expect payments?

I think you need to cover the payment for one academic year before you start in August maybe by this Summer or maybe sooner. depending on the payment option you choose if you took out loans, like sallie mae for example, you can choose to not start making payments until 6 months after graduation, giving you time to become employed, however your loan amount gets higher due to APR. other options include making monthly payments while you're in school. Since you had your financial aid appointment, that means you have an advisor! you should definitely reach out to your advisor for when you should begin covering payment. but either way, your tuition for one year must be covered by out of pocket, your loan choice, financial aid, scholarships or grants. I already got approved for my loan to cover my first year cost last week, all of my classes are unofficially approved until I send my official transcripts this June, so I am now just waiting for official acceptance. ?

Thank you! Do you know if you had to make a deposit to secure your spot? I guess I'm just trying to figure out at what point I proceed.

That, I actually don't know yet. My FA advisor for WCU said he will email me to check my progress every Friday so that means tomorrow I am able to ask him if sallie mae paid my tuition and what my next steps are but I am certain the sooner you are able to pay, the safer your spot is. If anything, I can always ask any of your general questions you have with my advisor ?

Does anyone know if there's a difference between the LA campus and the OC campus? In terms of clinical experience, training, instructors, etc.?

I got an email from FA that I completed my financial status and on the waiting list for April 2021 class. im thinking of moving it to June 2021 so I have plenty of time to save money since I will not use any loans like sallie mar due to high APR. anyone who are confirmed for June class?
