West Coast University-BSN

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to start at WCU Orange County campus this upcoming January! I would really love to connect with other prospective students throughout the process. I'm currently studying for the HESI entrance exam. I'll also be finished with my last few pre-reqs by December. Where are you in the process? Let's talk!

Hello!!

I am going to be attending west coast in January. I took the HESI this past September. I officially went through the financial aid Appt and I just got accepted to start January.  I am also finishing my last science class (Microbiology). How did you do on your HESI? did you get accepted?

Hi!

I'm so glad that you found my post and reached out! Congrats on getting accepted! I actually planned to take my HESI in September as well but unfortunately I lost someone in my family and it kind of flipped my world upside down. I'm now planning to take it in the beginning of November. I have no idea if there'll be a waitlist now but I still hope to start in January! How was the financial aid appointment? Did they review your transcript already to approve prerequisites?

I am so sorry for your loss. It is never easy losing a loved one. Hopefully you can still get in for January. The financial appointment took awhile to get the appointment but I kept bugging my advisor to see if there were any cancellations or opening and luckily I was able to get an appt 2 weeks sooner than my original date. It is REALLY quick. about one hour appointment. What I did before hand was submit my official transcripts to the Registrar office, uploaded my drivers license, filled out some reference form  (on the west coast portal that you'll have access to before your financial aid appointment) and that was it. I didn't have to worry about that during financial aid. I applied for my loan that night and the financial advisor received the approval the next day and submitted everything and I was able to get into January term officially. Financial Aid doesn't go over transcripts. Basically they go over how much you qualify for student loans, and then how you want pay the program, (private loan, out of pocket...etc) you pay per year.. regardless of the classes you have completed. you will save more money the 2nd year because of scholarships and what not. What saves you money is the less time you are in the program. I hope that makes sense. I'll be applying for scholarships for 2023 so that will hopefully be less for that academic year.

Also transcripts are reviewed by registrar, they will send you a message on what was approved or not.  and then your admissions advisor will go over that with you. Then they send you a "proposed schedule" of what classes you will be taking each term.

All I am waiting for now it to schedule mandatory orientation and technology day. I hope you do get a seat for January if not then the next term is April!

Best of luck!

Thank you so much it's so nice to know this information! Taking the steps to commit to this school/debt is intimidating LOL so I'm glad to hear that you've had a good experience so far.

I have a few questions if you don't mind!

After acceptance and financial aid appt, how much time do they give you to pay the tuition?

Did they mention anything about nursing core going back to in-person next year?

Is the orientation and technology day in person or online?

Thanks again!

Sooo sorry for the late response. Im not on here very much. LOL I believe you start paying for the loan 6 months after graduation.  I will be paying the interest while im in school so at least im paying towards it.

I did have the technology day orientation but the only thing they mentioned was just about our schedules. how to interpret whether it'll be in person or online. I have New student orientation in January so maybe they'll give us an update on whether will be online or in person since the pandemic is getting worse again.

Tech day and new student orientation is online for us.

Hi guys. At this point I am guessing all of you have been at west coast for some time now. Can you share your experience about the school?

Hello,

I've been at WCU for 6months now and I personally enjoy it. I decided to go to a private school even though I will come out of it with huge debt but I will be done faster. I’ll be done in 1.5years. This Summer I’m starting my clinicals. I can tell you all more later but so far so good. It’s an investment for my future. Good luck to you both!

ps if you still have all your pre requisites that need to be completed do them at a community college or online. My only advice is come to WCU once you have all you’re pre-reqs and gen ED classes done!! ? it’ll save you ALOT of money!!

Hi everyone! Currently studying for the HESI for the Wcu Ontario Campus. Does anyone know what percentage you must get for the HESI?

Hello! I was wondering what loan company you all decided to use. I am planning to start January 2023. Thanks in advance!

Hi Jess! I'll also be starting in January and I was fortunate enough to qualify for a Parent PLUS loan, I would look into it if you are able ?
