Why can you not do CC? The cost at WCU is over $120k vs $3k at CC?

Associate degree at ACC = $66,000 versus bachelor's degree at WCU = $132,000

These two schools are owned by the same individual (the son of the actor who portrayed Uncle Jesse on the Dukes of Hazzard). I would not recommend them.

The no market fo new grads is terrible. Before 2008, it would ha pave been an ok decision....now not so much.

my private student loan of 40k was over 400$ a month. You would have to assume the 60k loan would be close to 700$ a month and I don't even know what WCU loans would cost you. Do you have the ability to pay that without a nursing job? The reality is it takes a few months after graduation to pass your boards and securing that first job can take an extended time in California. I'm still paying off the loans I took to fund my education, and I am lucky enough to work at a very high paying hospital. Honestly had I not had a couple of great breaks, I'd likely still be living paycheck to paycheck barely getting by. I could never recommend the excessive cost these private programs result in.

starting at a Community college is the way to go!! it is going to take longer but in the end the college you go to for your adn or the university you go to for your bsn is going to be more recognized and respected then graduating from ANY Private school! Save yourself some money and do it the RIGHT WAY.

hey; here to give some advice...

I am currently on my last year at wcu. I am an LVN that got licensed at a smaller college, but have a classmate that got her LVN from acc and is now getting her BSN at wcu. She tells me all the time that she wishes she had just done BSN to save time and money. Anyways, as far as the cost... it really depends on your financial situation. Many of us have parents or husbands :cheeky: paying for tuition. My family paid half in cash and the other in loan. I have a cousin that graduated from wcu and they take out 2k per monthly income because she had no pre-req's to transfer and was not an LVN (they give discount for that). She said her starting salary is 33$... so basically thats half her check gone... LVN salary.

my advice.. transfer courses like i did, but don't waste time getting your LVN.

Ive worked in the field, but you constantly have people judging you because you're not an RN. :whistling: ... also, you must have a cosigner, doesn't matter your age//credit.

Use that money you'd be wasting and help those really in need. That kind of tuition for a nursing salary is nowhere near reasonable even if you can afford la rent and loan repayments. And if you can afford paying that much monies in cash I'd rather out that down toward a home/investment.
