I work in NYC and LA.
Earn $40/hr in my regular f/t staff RN job in NYC.
A little bit less than that per hour when I work my registry (agency) in LA.
not much difference in cost of living between the 2 cities but some things in LA were more expensive than in NYC.
New grad ADN starting salaries in NYC are between $60k - $65k/yr.
You not only look at pay but you have to look at the cost of living. Where on the west and east coasts, what's rent, taxes, pay, car insurance, etc.
I can tell you when I lived in San Diego...high cost of living, taxes, etc...When I moved to Vegas, low cost of living, taxes, I got paid aprox 5 dollars more an hour (as a dental assistant) So like I said, it varies.

northeast or west coast
Anyone out there who can settle a debate.
I have a debate with a friend she says that the west coast (CA) pays better for nursing but based on all the reading I have been doing at this site and other places, I say that it is the Northeast states. (NY, MA, CT etc.)
Any response would be appreciated
