Went to Chancellor's Workshop

I went to Chancellor's careplan lab this past week. It was 5 full days of breaking down the cpne. I really don't think I would be able to pass this monster if I haven't gone. Mon and Tues ,they broke down all the critical elements then we practiced them through. They had us make a grid with areas of care. I understood that before I went into the class, but I didn't know all the little details that go with area of care. Now many people on here understand that, and pass well with no workshop. I am a person that needs to visualize as I go through the AOC's. It really helped. Wednesday and Thursday was meds and labs, Friday was the mock CPNE. Friday honestly was invaluable. The make you go through it and the instructor is the CE. I loved the workshop. There are many, many passers in there. Hopefully I will be one of them. The instructors were wonderful!!! Oh wednesday, thursday and friday the careplans were broken down well. So really its called the careplan lab, but really its an entire cpne lab.

I just wish it wasn't so much. Throw in airfare and it is as much as the cpne! I am still considering it though.....

There are cheaper workshops out there. I think a workshop online, or hands-on one make a difference in the cpne. I test in Utica, NY.

I think I am going to do an online one, and try to get to Tina's in Pa. I just wanted to get more familiar with this stuff before I go. I don't want to look stupid. The one in Atlanta has an online one that is not very expensive. I can't recall the name though.

I just remembered that the study guide changes in Oct. I guess that will affect me if I don't get a cancel date. I wonder if the workshops are aware of the changes.

I think the biggest change for the 18th edition is you need two actual nursing dx for each PCS. No more At Risk nursing dx.This means no more using At Risk for Injury after October 1 this year.

As an fyi according to the updates the planning phase of clinical is changing in other ways besides the non use of Risk for Dx's. A New addition of providing a focused assessment will need to be done as part of the planning Phase and then only action interventions can be written for the goals. So gone are the days for using Risk for Dx's and assessment interventions. One other change also to note: the gravity drop per minute for a cont IV documentation is being moved from the Planning Phase sheet to the Fluid Manag sheet.
