I worked with three LPNs last night. As I was waiting my turn at the Pyxis, I overheard two of them discussing an LPN-to-RN bridge program. I thought 'how wonderful it is that these nurses are about to continue their education'! I stood there and smiled to myself, being so proud of them.

Then, it happened! The one said she would be getting her degree through DLSI!!! Whoa!!!! Whoa!!! Wait--a--minute!!! Before I knew, I butted in where I had no business! Before I could get a sentence out, I was told by the one, "That's the problem with nurses today; you have no clue about how things change. You could have gotten your ASN online, and you can go get your BSN online, too, instead of spending all this time sitting in a classroom". Nooooo! Really??? (This broad doesn't know who she's talking to.:cautious:)

In my younger, quick-tempered days......:blackeye:!!! (She assumed that since I show my face once every blue moon, I must be sitting in a brick-n-mortar). But instead, I simple asked her "how many BSN degrees do I need with these 'new' changes (as I stretched the lanyard with my badge as far as it will go). And yes, I got that online!"

Believing that I had wasted more than enough time on a lost cause, I turned to walk away. Something happened to my feet, though....they just wouldn't let my walk through the door without turning to share my 10-month-LPN-bridge-to-RN online success statement. (I shared the 'story' to the one interested in saving seven grand).;)

The other LPN followed me out of the med room so she could get the details. I pulled up my transcripts (proof in the pudding), showed her a website that tries to sell the EC exam content guide and then showed her how going directly to the source would provide the guides for free, etc...DLSI no longer sounded appealing to her...wonder why?:cheeky:

Yep! Had an awesome :Dnight at work last night! EC does it again!

I had two former coworkers who said they were going through DSLI to become an RN. I laughed to myself. Now one of them is going to a community college to bridge.
