Weeks to go and afraid

HI

How many people fail the last semster of school? I have 3 things I have to improve on in clinicals (critical thinking, leadership) and I failed last test but many in class did also.

I am soooo afraid that I just won't make it. I have been afraid all along in fact I almost quit last year but I am still here with a few weeks to go.

The thing is I know I will make a good nurse. With all the nurses I have seen in clincials some good some bad some great. I just want this to be done but I am still on edge which does not help with studying and preparing. When a certain instructor sits down with me and quizzes me on things ie strips my mind goes blank.

I am sooooo afraid. Any advise?

I finished my last clinical of nursing school last night. We have one more lecture in neuro before last test of nursing school. I was just thinking today. I have been taught all that I am going to be taught before going off to the real world and it is SCARY!!! lol :bugeyes::uhoh21::cry:

Dear adamsmom,

I SO agree with you - I am so fearful that I won't make it through these last two weeks of clinical! I had a bad, bad night last Wedensday and got put on clinical warning :cry:(I have subsequently been taken off, thank god!)...The experience left me a total emotional wreck. My confidence in myself went down the toilet. The only upside to the story is that I learned alot from the experience, and everyone agreed that I was having an off night (my past clinical evaluations have all been excellent). The only problem now is I am so rattled in the presence of this instructor that my heart starts to race and my mind go blank whenever she looks my way. She is a very tough, old school instructor, and I was fearful of her from day one - but now!!!!!

4 more clinicals....I'm just counting down the days and trying to stay focused...

Good Luck to you - keep envisioning yourself as that great RN you know you'll be!

adamsmom.... i know exactly how you feel. i will take my last final in 2 weeks. WOW.... its been a long road, these past 2 years. and i almost quit so many times. and i almost failed once. but im here and it is(graduation) mine. No one is going to take it away from me, not even ME. i get myself so worked up over things and it seems to be the nature of the beast. You need to take a deep breath. you control your future not your teachers. You can do it! Its good to know that there are people out there who go through what we go through. As for improving crit thinking and leadership, honestly i believe those 2 things come with experience. But for now just seem confident. i dont know if u already do but that little extra confidence might be what you need to get you through this last part. And fake it if you have to. Hold your head up high. Really think about what you are doing. Good Luck and deep breaths! YOU CAN DO IT!
