trying to find out what procedures different agencies use for weekend assignments,,,my agency is so disorganized that you can spend up to an hour looking for things like charts etc and still not find it,,,
if you could take the time and tell me how it works for you from the time you get your assignment,,,(we are still on a paper system)
thank you all in advance!!!

Two words: Baylor shift.
'Nuff said.
That was the best aspect of my last agency. If there were weekend SOCs, ROCs, or revisits, the Baylor did them (with a regular RN on call for back up if she got more than she could handle), then called report to the case managing nurse by Sunday evening. Left a copy of her notes in the case managing nurse's box on Monday morning. It was freaking awesome and so well done.
Where I am now, we spend most of Friday afternoon trying to staff for the weekend and then the case managers and clinical supervisors get no report from whoever did the visit over the weekend, we're luck if we get the notes in before the end of the following week, charts are incomplete, and it's an nightmare.
Baylor shift. The only way to fly.
i hear you on the Baylor!!! we don't have that, so regular staff along with PRN rotate the weekends,,,and it is a nightmare also!!!! can't ever find a chart after searching the building,,,very frustrating.
We have been promised EMRs by this time next year. Holding my breath, 'cause I look so good in blue.

Don't work on weekends unless I want to. Very selective about being oncall too.
