....how do y'all work holidays?

Are you off if the holiday doesn't fall on a weekend and working if it does?

Do you have to work a couple shifts but get off a weekend shift or two to compensate?

Do you work the holidays in addition to your weekends?

Just curious.

We work our weekends and our assigned holidays. It's not my favorite.

(p.s. I'm not trying to start shift wars, or weekend vs. weekday folk wars. just seeing how other places do things.)

Where I am, weekenders work either the day of or the day before the holidays, then get one of their weekend days off as a result. I'm getting ready to work Wednesday this week, but I was off Sunday.

We have to do one spring/summer holiday and one fall/winter holiday. We can request off, but it's not guaranteed. Our manager hangs up a calander with the holidays highlighted and we sign up what days and what shifts we want to work. This is for everyone, not just WEO. If you don't sign up that doesn't mean she won't schedule you to work. The handbook states that on holidays we only have to do 8 hours, but the WEO contract doesn't state holiday hours. So, we work 12 instead of 8. That I don't like - I feel like I'm getting shafted. Plus, after doing 12 hours for years, doing only 8 hours seems like a cakewalk.

I chose to work Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve and Day for the money.

At my job, we work our weekend plus one holiday shift. Other full time employees must work two holiday shifts. Holidays are the actual day and the eves. This year I work Thanksgiving.

We work the day we are scheduled to work. This year is kind of stinky because I work Mon, Tues, Wed and so that means Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day.

But hey...I'm always off for Thanksgiving.....:rotfl:

Our manager drafted the holidays for everyone to pick two holidays to work.You have to sign up for two holidays be it WEO or ordinary shift.i chose christmas eve and new year's eve.
