Tweety sounds like a productive day

Stars glad the billing issue proved easy to resolve

Dianah I hope that conditions improve, can't be good with all that heat and smoke

Work was pretty good yesterday, decided to attend rounds so I hurried a bit in the morning so I would have time for that.  Rest of the day was pretty ordinary

After work went out and did the grocery shopping and stopped at the post office

Today should be a pretty ordinary day too.  Will be another fairly warm one, in the upper 80s.  So far I have had to use my air conditioning only sporadically, we'll  see if that continues

Hello all!

Thanks Joe.  I hope today IS a "routine" day for you!

The Line Fire is reported at 34,000 acres, and 14% contained.  Apparently there is a Bridge Fire, raging in the north-west, in the Angeles National Forest area, and an Airport Fire in the south-west, by Lake Elsinore.  So, yeah, there is a lot of smoke and ashes.  Fire-fighting units from all over California are recruited to help battle these blazes.

I did my errands yesterday, and today I need to make some sort of soup or stew, for evening meals.  Probably the lentil stew with kale, as dh LOVED that one.  Last night we finished the tomato soup I'd made.  I am getting clothes ready for a trip to Disneyland, as temperatures are finally low enough for us to be comfortable walking around in dapper clothes.  Temperatures here at home are predicted to be -- FINALLY!! -- LOWER than triple-digits!  In fact, the next few days are supposed to be in the high 80's, and next week will hit a few days of the mid-70's!  Amazing!!

I did some hand-washing yesterday, and some sewing repairs.  I took no nap yesterday (despite not a lot of sleep during the night), and actually slept pretty well last night (yay!).

Have a good day!

Did not sleep well last night; woke up every hour until 6:40AM and then I FINALLY fell asleep....But was awakened by the tree guys cutting and throwing limbs into the chipper. Got up at 10:30, knowing there would be no more sleep as they were working on the woods that are 12-15 feet from the wall of my bedroom, and it was LOUD! So, I got up, dressed, and came down for coffee

I finally knew I should 'get Nannie up' .... when she came out of her bedroom to look outside at what was going on. Then, after she had breakfast and meds, she sat in the recliner and she gave me a play-by-play of the backyard activity, most of her commentary was confused and incorrect. When I began to get a little irritated by having to explain stuff, I guess Momo heard it in my voice, because she got down from the sofa and ran upstairs to our room! I'm going to have to watch myself with the tone of my voice; I don't like Momo being afraid.

So the guys are working down past the shed, (which is now visible!) and they will probably be at it for a few more hours. They are VERY GOOD at their jobs! They are cleaning up, raking up leaves and little branches after they move the bucket truck and chipper down to their next section to cut, so there are no 'leftovers' on the ground. Nice to see the workers going at it like a well-oiled machine, making a tough job a little easier. I would recommend them to anyone!    At least it is not flaming hot and humid out there!

I think I threw some of Nannie's stuff in the washer, but I don't think I started it. May not start it at all, who knows?! I sure don't!

Our side/back yard looks about 16 feet wider now with all the heavily laden branches gone! I haven't asked BiL what they are charging for the work, but he's in charge of Nannie's money, not me. I'm just curious. He'll tell me later, out of Nannie's hearing range, because it is her money being spent, but it has needed to be done for a while now. I could only talk hubby into having that one tree that was REALLY LEANING cut down. I told him that he could look and see that if we had a big storm (ice or rain with high winds) there were several large branches that would have landed on the roof right above his bedroom, and probably would've come through the roof onto him!

Jabber, jabber. I guess I am done for now....

Hi. I had a decent night sleep. It started to rain around midnight and I had the window ajar, and I love to sleep to the sound of rain. It was a soft, gentle pitter patter. It was just ending when I got to the demo garden to work in the roses. It was a little muddy, but not awful. I am making plans to take out some flowers, move some stepping stones, and add a couple more roses.

Yesterday I finally got the 4 interior doors painted, that we had installed this Spring. I got 2 coats done on both sides. The dogs were miffed that I put up the baby gate so they wouldn't be in the way. Youngest ds made a beef and broccoli dish that had an oriental taste to it, that was nice for dinner. And then watched the debate.

Dianah, I can sympathize about the smoke from the fires. We have had that off and on for the last few summers, although we avoided a lot this year. It's pretty gross. And I feel so bad for the people losing their homes.

Stars, seems like a good thing to have Nannie have something to occupy her attention. Getting trees away from the house is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned!

It's a cool day here, only 62, should be warm again tomorrow. I'm going to clean the bathrooms, then curl up with a book, and a dog or two.

G'day !

Work was very busy, discharged 12 and got 12 in.  I spent a good deal of time with a nurse that was over whelmed, I did an admission, hung some blood and did a discharge for here, as well as settle in a post op.  Sux when you have that assignment.

Fortunately I was a "free charge" in that I had no patient assignment.  I was told that when I have a two-patient assignment I'm still considered a "free charge" and have to fulfill the multitude of duties when I'm truly free but do it with two patients that need meds, assessments, charting.  Eye roll.

Friday I'm getting a haircut, getting my dryer vents cleaned and paying a professional to come install a blind I got for the spare bedroom because it has a very light curtain and I'm having the dog sitter stay in there when I'm on vacation and when I go see my parents.  Probably will cost more than the blind but I'm really incompetent and frustrate very easily.

I hear ya, Tweety, re: household tasks competency.  I would like to do several things around the house, but I have NO, ZERO, NADA, NONE skills.  I may try looking at YouTube vids for some of the simple tasks.  E.g., re-caulking the kitchen counter (where it meets the wall).  THEN I would have to paint.  Which means paint PREP.  GAH!! It is never-ending!!

You will, I'm sure, enjoy having that blind in place (and professionals don't take as much time as *we* do, having already done with the various little glitches and mistakes we'd experience -- which leads to one's frustration with doing tasks!).

The lentil stew is simmering on the stove, will be ready by the time we are ready for supper.  It smells good!

Have a good evening!
