Hi Tweety

Dianah  glad things will be cooler next week

Ado right  now I'm trying Kipling and Tennyson, kind of like the latter better

Stars thanks for the suggestions.  I hope your DH can get into a program, inpatient or outpatient, that works for him

NJ22 I wonder why she waited so long, if she wanted things packed just so

Work was a bit crazy in the morning as one of our computer systems was upgraded and changed, plus some more run of the mill computer issues.  But all was resolved and the day ended well

Rest of the day fairly quiet, did some exercise, did a little more knitting practice.

Have noticed, since doing mindfulness more seriously I have been dreaming more, or perhaps remembering my dreams more.  Interesting effect

Today would normally be grocery day, but choir practice has been moved to Thursday so I'll shop then.  Instead I'll exercise again tonight

Will be in the upper 70s today,  then mid 80s until Sat then down into the mid 70s

Good morning!

Joe, hope the work day isn't as crazy for you today.

Not much going on.  I have some beans in the pressure cooker for some lunch prep although I haven't decided how to season them yet.  Going to the gym and straightening things up.

Started watching the Lord of Rings new series on Amazon and while slightly boring and confusing looks visually stunning.  Apparently it's the most expensive series ever made but Amazon has deep pockets.  It apparently is getting negative review from Tolkien purists, notably Elon Musk.  Meh...I'm not a purist.

Hello all!

Tweety, my oldest ds is enjoying the new LOTR series.  I may have to check it out.  I LOVED the LOTR when it came out.  Such a visual and storytelling feast!

Joe, I had thought you didn't have enough ppl to have a decent choir, and here the church is starting up choir practice again!  Good!

Well, we have two wildfires going in our general area.  One is near the campground we have reservations at.  Actually, the highway is closed due to the fire.  We just received notification from recreation.gov that the campground is closed today through next Wed.  Our reservation started on Monday.  So, I cancelled the reservation.   Dh says "at least we have the week off work."  and then he grins (as we are both retired, that's a little ha-ha).   It is at about 500 acres, and rain is forecast on the weekend.  Hope it gets squelched or contained soon.

The second fire is near Hemet.   It is about 5000 acres.  Due to both fires, the past couple days we have heard the droning of the firefighting airplanes, either carrying or picking up the orange retardant to drop on the fires.   We fervently hope and pray both fires are put out soon, and appreciate all the firefighting crews are doing.

Temps, though, should be 109 today.  Only cooling down on Monday, to 90.

Have a good day!

Hi. I'm taking a little break from packing at work. We have a large horizontal file for pt charts and I'm packing that, and discarding a bunch of outdated copies of guidelines, and copies of emails to people who don't work here anymore. OCD nurse is scouring the building looking for furniture to fit in the new office. I thought I would just take my little desk along, but noooo, she trying to talk me into something else. AND I DON'T CARE BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE 3 MORE MONTHS TO WORK AND MUCH OF THAT WILL BE REMOTE! I felt like yelling that, but I just nod nd smile. I think her anxiety about change causes her to fixate on other things. She hates change, in fact, she reminisces about how things used to be. Me, I kind of like change and variety.  For me, actually packing relieves the stress.

I spoke with dh last night, and he seems to be over his snit. I am going to drive down tomorrow and camp with him for a few days.

I've been trying to do more mindfulness. The app I use focuses on breathing, and I feel so much better after a 10 minute session.

The weather continues nice, with a little smoke in the air, drifting up from Oregon, I think. It sure makes sleeping easier with the cool air coming in.

Well, she's hovering, trying to show me the 10th version of her floor plan, so I best go.

Take care.

Good Afternoon!

Just got back from a grocery-run. It is, as usual, hot in the upper 80's, and humid. And yes indeedy, "the sun is bright."

Neither hubby nor I slept well last night. He must've gotten up 8-9 times. I just flipped from one side to the other and let my mind roll where it wanted. I wasn't worrying or fretting, I was just pretty much AWAKE for 8 hours. It was a  bummer! I feel kinda rugged right now.

The Braves won over Oakland last night 10-9, and there is a game coming on at 3:37 PM. Three thirty-seven???! Weird to specify the minutes like that. They could've shaved it down to 35 or up to 40, but nooooo, it's 3:37. Oh well.

Nannie is eating her lunch and I am parked in my usual spot on the sofa.

j22- OMG that OCD woman must not be 'happy' unless she is frazzled! I had a drama-queen friend who used to go on a tear about stuff in her life; I often felt she was going through her woes over and over and over, like she was saying them on some kind of rosary beads or something. Sad to be stuck in a place like that, waiting for some new drama to poke it's head up out of the ground. I will join you in a chant to your co-worker: ? "Three more months, three more months!"

Joe, Let's all pray that my hubby can get into an IN-patient rehab, because that would suit ME better! // At least the computer upgrade was resolved in one day; that's almost amazing!

Tweety, Beans in the pressure cooker reminds me of a patient I had LONG AGO, who decided to cook dried lima beans in the pressure cooker and she didn't pay attention ... until they exploded and lifted the lid off the cooker and spread mashed lima beans EVERYWHERE! We cleaned blops of limas off of things for a week!

dianah, When I hear about new fires out there, I hesitate to email and ask my brother if they are where he is, has he had to move again? He says, "California is a BIG state and it's not burning everywhere, y'know." You can't tell by me; it seems every day there is news of a new fire burning somewhere. Those firefighters out there should get a raise in pay AND bonus for hardship working conditions.

May come back by here later---

Everyone be safe and have a good'n!

No Stars, California IS a big state.  It takes me 6-7 hr to drive from SoCal to near Sacramento.  Then it's another 8 hr or so to the northern border!  Sometimes I toss and turn like you did -- awake, just can't fall asleep.  Hope the game goes well today.  (I agree: 3:37???  what???)

nursej22, THREE MORE MONTHS????!!  woo-hooooooooo!!  Yes, you can put up with almost anything for three months!!  Fingers crossed for you!

Another firefighter just flew over.  The Radford fire, near Big Bear in the mountains, is now at 990 acres, 2% contained.  The Fairview fire, near Hemet, is at 7000 acres and is 5% contained.  ?

Later.

11 o'clock and I am barely paying attention to a VERY young Doris Day singing a sad love-song on TCM. I think this is a good time to go upstairs and cozy up to a new mystery novel.
