Emptied out hubby's dresser drawers. He had more socks than anyone should legally be allowed. The crappy ones, I will use for dust rags to clean horrible things like ceiling-fan-dust accumulated for years (in the rooms we don't use, the dust is THICK!) and I can toss them out instead of washing them for re-use. Also pitching a lot of t-shirts that are irretrievably unwearable (stains, holes, burn spots), which will be also used for rags.
However, I have collected two stuffed-full 30 gal bags full of wearable t's and socks, shorts, athletic pants, and slippers. I haven't even LOOKED in his jam-packed closet yet! But what I have so far is going to the battered woman's shelter's thrift store soon.
I have put off getting Nannie up, so I guess I should do that now.?
Good afternoon. 'tis cold and blustery here. Apparently some Arctic air has pushed down from Canada, dropping the temp to low 40s, wind chill making it feel like freezing. There looks to be a nice dusting of snow on the foothills. Yesterday it rained cats and dogs (I stepped in a poodle, LOL). I did not go volunteer at the demo garden today. They were going to cut sod to pick up and move it. My low back has been very tight, so I passed on repeated bending and toting. The dogs were freezing last night, so I ordered them some PJs on line. I went to grandson's band performance last night and it was, um, squeaky. They don't get a lot of in class time and most are beginners, with one teacher to teach clarinet, flute, sax, trumpet, trombone, french horn, and tuba.
I made some appointments on line for a massage and a haircut. I do and I don't want to go look for a bicycle. It's just so frustrating that my size is not readily available.
I didn't have fever or chills with my COVID shot, just a real sore, swollen, deltoid.
I think Oppenheimer was over 3 hours. My bladder tends to complain about the 2 hour mark. I don't care for DiCaprio, but I will likely go see that movie. I feel like I missed so much US history in HS, but it was sooooo boring, in my view.
Stars, hang in there. And keep hanging to receipts , especially for BiL. Definitely look at trimming back on cable and hubby's phone. You know who would be helpful with that? Probably your nephew.
That arctic air is headed here for the weekend. We've got rain planned for every day, and a low of 32 on Sun, Mon, Tues. The zoo canceled Twin A yesterday because of rain. Today he went to work but was sent home early due to low "census" and impending rain. I'm flying to Las Vegas Tuesday, should be a little warmer (and drier) there ??
It is yet another risk management meeting, and no more traveling (for work) after that until March! Sunday evening is when my book club is scheduled to have our sit-around-the-fire-and-tell-spooky-stories meeting but it sounds as if it will be WET and COLD.
Both deltoids are quite sore, but I feel better today and dragged myself in to work.
Though we have no choir director yet, the choir is going to get together tonight and practice something easy, that we know, to sing for the new pastor's first Sunday November 5. At least, I think that's the plan.
G'day!
At around 7:15 well into our report we get told we're sending a nurse to another floor to cover a whole. I wasn't in charge but I was told since it was someone on our other side's turn to float I had to change my assignment and go to the other station for a new assignment. So I was screwed from the get go. Discharged a patient at 8:50 and turns out that was the first discharge in the hospital and they are recognizing that with a "gold trophy" and candy. Good grief, some high paid executive game up with that game I guess. Someone on my unit also got the "silver trophy" for having the 2nd discharge of the day. eye roll....needless to say, I stayed behind all day. I had a real witch of a patient who was yelling at me to move her, and I snapped "I can't read your mind, tell me what you're trying to do". Her: you're supposed to know what you're doing. Me: but I don't read minds. She was in the bathroom with the tech and said "I don't want that other guy in here, he's rude". Twenty minutes later she lets me in with her narcotics. Go figure.
Tweety, I had a quad patient once who, on my first home health visit, got mad when I said that "the office said you would tell me what to do" for him. He squawked "You should already know what to do for me! I'm not a nursing teacher!" I said, "I worked for my first year and a half with quads and paras, and one thing I DO know is that everyone who has a spinal injury has a body that reacts differently; If YOU can't tell me what works and doesn't work for YOU, you're just going to have to deal with how I do things." The next visit I made there he apologized to me, said he'd been thinking about what I said, and that I was right. My supervisor at the time did not believe he would ever apologize to ANYONE for ANYTHING. Well, he apologized to me! And for the next three years or so, whenever I had him in my assignment, we had the best time joking, and laughing until we cried. I have had other patients or pt. families jump on me for similar things, some who had never even MET me before! Sometimes I kinda felt like John Wayne straightening them out, though I did not call any of the "Pilgrim"! ?
When I mentioned all the shredding I had to do in a email to my sibs, my sister went on line and found that there is a one-time shredding 'event' going on this coming Sunday in a parking lot that is maybe 9 miles away from me. Only trick is that it is between 9 AM and 11AM, but heck, it is FREE and NOT $1.49 per pound like the UPS store. And I DO have the limit of 5 trash-bags full of shredding. ? I say w00t! It's worth getting up for!
Nannie went to bed at 8:30 PM......here's another w00t!
Now I am going to tote my stuff upstairs, then come down for Momo. It's part of our night time routine. She grabs her little purple 'dog' (the toy that she can't squeak), and dives under the down blanket, curling up around her 'baby', then sticking her nose back out to see what I am up to. She is sooooo cute!

Tweety that's an awfully long movie
Ado I had fever and chills after the Covid booster
Stars that is something to think about, if someone else is guardian. I hope that all the bill paying went OK. Probably will take a while to get the paperwork sorted out
Work started OK but got not one but two new cases in the afternoon. But by this time I've mentally adapted to the increased pace, so I wasn't too bothered by it. Did one and left the other for today
Did the grocery shopping last night as I'll be busy tonight and it'll be rainy. Went for a walk afterwards because it was unusually warm, nearly 80
Today have a meeting at work, so lunch may have to be shortened to compensate. Hopefully no new work comes down the pike. If it wasn't for all these new cases it would actually be a pretty quiet week
After work going to try to attend a wake for the wife of one of our newer church members. Also have a dinner outing with the gay group after that, so will be a busy night
Rainy day in the mid 60s here
