Stars glad you got a break from her at least for a few hours

Ado that is a big expense to take on, it's understandable why it would be difficult to manage

Dianah going to try a shrimp recipe next week, hopefully it turns out better. Decided to skip the crock pot going forward, have had too many disappointments

Tweety glad things are going good at home

Work was fine yesterday, despite the meeting, though at the end of the day got a new case that took at lot of time on the phone to figure out.  Still managed to leave on time.  Am hopeful that unless something unexpected comes up, today should be pretty normal

After work went out to dinner with my church friend D, we haven't gotten together in nearly 2 months.  Was great to see her, she's not in church much as she's in seminary and working at a different church.  Her enthusiasm and dramatic flair reminds me of my my mom

Not much planned for after work today.  Have tomorrow off for my birthday, but the weather looks bad...30s with wind rain and snow...so will have to change plans, spending time outside like I planned probably won't work

Will be colder today, think it will be in the 40s and rather windy

Good Morning TOO-EARLY!

I put Nannie to bed at 10 PM last night, and at 1:20 AM she was sitting on the edge of her recliner (so I was told by my super-watchdog, or hearing dog). I went down stairs and she said she wanted to stay in the chair, so I put it in a way-reclined position with a small pillow under her neck and a light blanket over her. I woke up to check her at 2:30, 3:30 and 5 AM, then at 8 AM. She was groggy when she greeted me and went back to sleep. I was going to go back to sleep myself, but decided I needed to get her out of that chair before she started trying to get out of it on her own.

Took her to the bathroom, changed her pads, gave her the AM meds and told her she needs to lie down in bed for a while since she might have a kink in her neck from the way she was hanging her head and neck over to the right. Gave her two Ex St Tylenol 'rapid release' capsules to forestall any pain and to MAYBE make her sleepy enough to to doze off again, since it is still morning. Hope she stays in bed!! But at least she won't be able to crawl onto the recliner as it is down in the 'normal' position,( ie sitting)

Sent a text to SiL, and she said she was going to come over after work mid-day and wants to take Nannie to get her nails done, but I think it is supposed to rain until mid-afternoon. I told SiL she doesn't need to get her car mired in the backyard mud again, and Nannie doesn't really NEED her nails done that bad! ....besides which she won't remember it anyway!

So I'm going to lie down in bed and see if I can nap a little.....

Laydah, y'all~

Good morning.

Joe, hope you have a good day and a good birthday tomorrow.

Stars hope you get some rest.

Just accepted a friend ds invitation to Thanksgiving.  Was going out to eat.  They are eating later than I would like.

Meeting some of G's friends for lunch before heading to my parents.

Welp, I did get about 3 hrs more sleep and gosh I feel better! Nannie, on the other hand, not only went back to sleep after the 2 Tylenol, she now does not want to get up because she is so sleepy. Well, it's rainy, so it's a good day for her to sleep more!

Joe, the crock pot initially seems such a good idea: it cooks while you are away for the day, etc.  But if I prepare the ingredients for it, I have to get up earlier, and then my hands smell like onions all day!  Yes, I could use gloves (didn't have any when raising kids, never thought of it!), and yes I could prep the night before, dump all into the crock pot, in the morning.  But, it never worked for me either, in the long run.  I'd rather do the prep and cook the soup/stew all at once.  Usually takes me 30-45 min.  And that's OK!

Hi to Tweety and George!

No Stars, I'm glad you got some good sleep!

The only thing I have planned for today is errands: gas in the car, HFS, groceries (small grocery run).

Have a good day!

2:25 PM~ Convinced Nannie to get up OOB and got her dressed. It took her an entire cup of yogurt and 6 ounces of cranberry juice to get that antibiotic capsule down. When it was almost gone I had Nannie sit up, take some juice in her mouth and lower her face down, then swallow. Shoulda done that in the first place. I was afraid the capsule would melt in her mouth ("not in her hands!") and we all know how horrible antibiotics taste!

Anyway, I know she is still "under the influence" of the Tylenol, so I told her that if she wanted to nap, it's okay because it is a gray, rainy day and nothing is going to be happening this afternoon.

Too bad she can't have a Tylenol pump, and then whenever she gets rankled and gnarly, I could push the button and she'd have a dose! Nah, it is nice that it makes her sleepy, but I can't keep dosing her with the Tylenol all the time! But I can't say I'm not enjoying her being peaceful at this time! 😴.....they all look like angels when they're asleep, don't they? .... Well, SOME of them do......

I just read the weather report of the North-West getting the Atmospheric Whosadingy Whatchamacallit and so many folks out of power. My brother, somewhere out there in northern Calif., said to me last night, that the last big storm they got 8-12 inches of rain one afternoon, but thankfully, no flooding or mudslides. Hope y'all out there come through that mess okay! It looks scary to me!

The PCP is referring me to an ortho doc. But they are supposed to call me for an appointment and I'm feeling impatient. Tired of gimping around and the swelling is worse and making my knee stiff. I wonder if there's an effusion? If I don't hear from them by tomorrow afternoon I might take matters into my own hands. There is a doctor who comes to the specialty clinic right next door to the hospital -- which seems handy.

Anywho... today is the day of the big move -- Twin B gets the bedroom back and Gma gets a hospital bed in the living room. Hubs and Twin B were moving furniture to create a little niche for her, almost like having her own little room on one side of the living room. I assume/hope that Hubs will still get her up to the table and the chair. We will have to have a talk about pressure ulcer prevention. They moved my piano into our bedroom and I'm actually kind of excited because maybe I can occasionally *play* the piano without disturbing everyone else (too much). I have missed being able to play. A lot of "stuff" has been displaced that now I/we must decide what to do with.

I agree that I rarely want to get up early to prep and put stuff in the crockpot, so I don't use one often. I find that the pressure cooker is handy for quickly cooking meat until it's tender. And I have used it some to prepare and then freeze shredded chicken, etc. As far as having flavors "blend" ... well, stews and chili are always better the second day because they sat in the refrigerator overnight. Darn it, now I am thinking of things I'd like to get from the store but I don't want to go limp around the store. Which is the whole point of the Walmart pick-up service, right? There. Solved.

Good on ya!!  So sorry your knee continues to trouble you.  I hope you can get it seen by ortho and that a helpful plan is hatched.  AND, I'm glad you will be able to play the piano more, with it in your room!  I know I would miss being able to play guitar if I couldn't play...

I got gas in the car, went to the Health Food Store and got some items, then mailed a package (an advent calendar to a friend), and did some grocery shopping.  Now I am getting my afternoon water "fix" (I usually drink 16-24 oz in the afternoon, while on the puter).  I need to exercise tonight.  The last couple days my neck has really been bothering me: stiff and painful to move certain ways.  I did some upper body exercises yesterday, with light weights.  Used frankincense and helichrysum oils on the neck and trapezius, and took two Aleve at night.  Neck is better today, but I plan to keep moving it and exercising it if I am on the computer or watching a movie, to prevent holding it in one position for long periods.  Doing what I can, LOL!  I don't think it's anything I need to see my MD about.

Have a good evening!
