Good morning!
Joe, hope you continue to stay calm at work.
Stars, it sounds like life is much easier though no less aggravating with your in-laws stepping up to the plate after your husband died. Will they be as helpful with house maintenance after Nannie passes?
Good report from the dentist who is still watching some areas but says they are maintaining and nothing to be done, The hygienist said I was boring this time as things looked healthy and good.
Not so much when I went in for an oil change, first appointment at 7:15AM and wound up spending $700 on a couple of parts that needed replaced. It's a 7 year old car and I don't know any better so keep up with the routine recommendations for replacing dirty and worn out parts. Maybe this way I can keep it for running for another 7 years or longer. The longest I had a car was a used one that went to 10 year old before I decided it was time for an upgrade because I was just tired of it.
Anyway, going to do some cleaning and meal prep and then get a haircut. Will probably miss the gym as time might not allow for it. Or I could put off cleaning. Either option is unpleasant. LOL
Today I take my car out to the dealership to have the rear window wiper replaced. It has a severe case of ED, with both ends of the blade drooping down. Can't believe I had to make an APPOINTMENT to have that replaced! I had a 10% OFF coupon, but then yesterday rec'd a 15% OFF coupon for the same thing, so that's better, I think!
Woke up to my phone ringing at 8 AM......it was SiL who 'forgot' she had a door key now. I went back to sleep and slept until 11:15 AM. Thought for a moment that I had overslept my appointment time, but relieved to realize I still had plenty of time to wake up before I have to leave. Time now for another cup of coffee!
May stop by the Dept store where I got the pants I wore to my niece's wedding, see if they have a navy blue pair. Definitely will stop at the HFS out there also. Then will come home; hopefully since I have a definite appt time, I won't be at the dealership for two hours!
Anyway, that's what I have so far on my to-do list. The laundry got done yesterday, and there's only one meal's worth of dirty dishes to do today.
Joe, I was actually only listing the reasons I can't look for or find another place to live. The cons out-weigh the pros, so I am staying put. Hard to beat not having to pay all those utilities and a rent or mortgage, too, y'know!
Okay, soon it will be time to gather my stuff and head out....See yez'all laydah.
That looks really pleasant, J22.
Joe, I hope your week remains tolerable while covering for someone else and doing your job as well.
Tweety, yay for a good dental report, boo for expensive car maintenance.
Having verified that we have surface rights only to our little homestead, I proceeded to gathering the required paperwork to verify my claim to the unclaimed property in my parents' names. I'm pretty sure I know what it is, about $1,000 that was left in my dad's retirement annuity. They could only issue a check to the trust; it was complicated to get a check cashed that was made to the trust. It will probably still be that way but since I found the tax ID issued when they died and the trust became irrevocable, maybe it won't be too hard. How do I have time to hold down a job? Just managing life can be overwhelming at times.
I'm baaaaack! Got two pairs of those pants I wanted....one in tan and one in navy blue; it was too much money, except for the fact that I NEED new pants that fit me well, and these (Croft and Barrow) lack the excess fabric around the waist, (belt loops) and belly (zipper) that are obnoxiously present in blue jeans, so I am well-pleased.
The dealership got me outta there in 15-20 minutes (for $23.29). I hardly ever use the back windshield wiper, but it looked downright pitiful drooping like it did.
I stopped at the HFS and got my ginger candy that I like. Also had something from the hot-bar for lunch....bourbon-baked salmon and some kind of lo-mein + veggies dish. It was okay but I couldn't really taste anything exceptional about it; mostly now I go for heat, spices, salt+ pepper, and different textures of the foods in the meals I eat. I still would love to be able to taste roasted garlic, which I used to think was 'gooder' than candy! If I ate as much roasted garlic as I would like to, I fear I would get some horrible, racing, galloping, loose stool explosions, so I am careful not to over-do things; I did not buy any roasted garlic today. 😕 Drat.
I looked around for a Home Depot.....thought I knew where it was, well, two possible places it could be, but couldn't find one anywhere. I want to get two pkgs of 12x12" mirror squares, but cut down to be 12"x 8", to fit where I want to mount them. I did go into a Lowe's a few months ago, but some idiot sales person said they didn't have a machine to cut glass (which surprised me a lot since it was at a Lowe's that I had mirrored squares trimmed when I lived in Asheville), so I came outta there with nuthin'. I will have to try the other 2-3 Lowe's I know of, and/or maybe a hardware store, to see if I can get what I want (and need!). I checked the yellow pages, but the phone books here are thin and not used by as many companies as they used to, so they weren't of much help at all. Oh well, sooner or later I will find a place that will do it, meanwhile that 8" width of wall beside the closet woodwork will stay blank. *sigh*
When I got home, BiL was mowing the front and back yards. It is now 4 PM and I'm hoping it is not a day I have to go pick up Nannie from daycare. (Let us pray!) Either way, it won't be too long before she is to come home, no matter who gets her, and we ALL know how THAT just thrills me, no end!
Time to relax with my feet up and read!
MUCH, MUCH LATER~~~~like, 7:45 PM! SiL was at the neurologist with her mom until 5 PM, So she sent BiL to get Nannie. She said she spoke with Chatty CG and she is planning to come here tomorrow. (w00t! if that is true!)
Nannie keeps wrassling with her shoulder/cape I have put it on her 4 times so far and did it just now for the 5th time. I told Nannie I wish she would let me finish eating MY supper before it got ice cold. She thought that was funny and so she giggled. Yeah, I am so amusing!

Tweety hope you don't end up needing more dental work
NJ22 thanks for sharing the pics
Hi Dianah
Stars that is good to consider, even if you haven't come to any decisions yet
I managed to stay mostly calm at work, despite getting a new case and the person I was covering getting a new case at the same time. Cut lunch hour in half and worked quick and got it done. Was a bit upset to receive yet another new case at the end of the day but again managed to stay mostly calm, and saved it for today
After work did the grocery shopping and then did the political meeting, which thankfully was held at a bar as I needed a drink by then. That was pretty much the whole day
Today have to spend some time on a project so I'm going to start work early to make time for that. If nothing unexpected happens it should not be a bad day, but we'll see. Nothing unusual planned for after work
Will be cooler today, lower 80s, might get some more rain
