We just got back from eating at the Chinese Buffet. Nannie was sound asleep when we left, and she's still sound asleep. I'll zap something in the microwave for her supper when/if she starts stirring.
Aaaaand of course hubby said he was going upstairs to sleep a bit, since he slept 'very little' last night. If he would get up in the mornings, stay sober-ish, and move around doing stuff, he might stay awake. But, alas, it seems he doesn't/can't/won't. Oh well for him!
We didn't get any of the predicted thunderstorms yesterday. But it got up to the mid-90's, and the only time I went out was to feed and water the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks.
Gosh, the Braves lost last night's game! Hubby was still saying that the "Guardians" are a new team. I said to just call them the Cleveland Indians if he has to, because they are still the same team, only with a different name. I sure don't understand why he can't get that.
Haha! Guess what hubby said as he was about to go upstairs?! "Just leave those dishes in the sink, and I'll wash them later, when I get up." What'll this be, the (?) 4th or 5th time he's said that this past month, and never did wash them! Wonder if he will wash them or not? It will remain a mystery for now. I have been giving him 2-3 days to see if he will or won't, and then just end up washing them myself.
Don't know if the mail has been delivered yet or not. We can get it as early as 11 AM, or 3 PM or at 7:30 PM or later. Speaking of mail, did ya hear the USPS is upping the cost of a postage stamp again soon? They just raised it in January. Not sure if it'll be 66 or 68 cents per first class stamp. (Go ahead, Tweety, tell me you don't use stamps! ? I know you pay on-line. ?.) Heck, I remember 2 cent stamps and penny postcards! And, we got our mail two times a day, as well as having AM and PM newspapers. I'm an oldie moldie!
There has also been talk of TCM going 'streaming' and charging for it by the month! Don't mess with my TCM, dammit! On the other hand I could go back to basic cable and sign up to stream TCM. Who knows. I am paying through the nose for the cable and wifi, as it is. I will have to investigate various other options.
Hubby and I were talking about Lonesome Dove last night. Maybe it is available On Demand. I have never used On Demand because I know they charge by the movie, and, as I said, I am paying too blankety-blank much $$$ as it is! But we will have to set aside some time to be able to watch Lonesome Dove when we WON'T have to 'splain eenythang to that Nannie- person. That would thoroughly ruin any movie!
Joe, you could come visit us and sit on the back patio and see ALL kinds of birds without walking a step! And if it's cold, you can sit inside and look out the double-paned glass door.
I have a friend in Florida who mentions she and her husband would like to come visit us, but I tell her, she really wouldn't enjoy it much. Between Nosy Nannie, and non-detox'd hubby who also coughs all the time due to COPD and Emphysema, it would be miserable for me to visit with them here!
Last time I saw them was before we moved down here, and they were renting where there is a DOG-FRIENDLY set of cabins with large fenced yards. (they had, um, 4 (?) dogs at the time).
Anyway, until Nannie 'slips the surly bonds of earth' this isn't a visitor-friendly place. Phooey! It would be even worse to have my sister and bro-in-law come visit. Sister is kind of bossy about ecological and dietary things, and bro-in-law is so very wryly dry in his wit and humor, it would not be fun to have to explain either of them to Nannie! She (Nannie) had a hard enough time at first (lo, those 6+ years ago) because she couldn't stand me, as I am soooo "Yankee-acting." (!) Now, however, she is so thankful she has me to help her; she has to have SOMEBODY wait on her, and it sure'n'heck isn't her son.
Ballgame's on tonight at 7:10 PM----
Joe, we had close-up views of a couple of great blue herons as they flew by at the lake. We really should take binoculars with us.
I made a decision yesterday, though. I am not up for sailing in Oklahoma in July and August. We were fine once we were on the water. There was a nice breeze. BUT it took about 2.5 hours AFTER the boys and I arrived to get the boat in the water. So many things to check and do. It was oppressively hot and humid and I was miserable. After about 1.5 hrs, the boys and I sat in the car and turned on the air conditioning. I was feeling bad for Hubs but when I asked him at some point if we were having fun yet, he did say that it is all fun to him. Well, I'm glad of that. But I can't do it.
We had been out a short time when Hubs asked if I was ready to call it a day! And we confirmed that (something he didn't check) not all the required lights were working for being on the water after sunset, so we headed in before that became a problem. Then we had to put the boat back in its dry slip, get the trailer collapsed again. Hubs cut his finger on something ... and the extreme mosquito activity found us. I had bites all over my face and neck and shoulders.
I'm guessing about 4-4.5 hours of misery with about 2-2.5 hours of fun. Not worth it to me.
Got home, took claritin, showered with menthol soap, and sprayed myself with lidocaine. Slept well after that!
Did enjoy the cocktails we made on the boat... coconut rum with pineapple sparkling water.
Greetings. It's 85 degrees here and I'm tuckered out. Dd and I walked a trail past some old army batteries, to the area where she is staying in the old officers' quarters. I took a picture of our campsite, and of the view in front of her room. A big ol' bald eagle flew up and perched just across the path. If you look closely at the third pic, you can see him or her between the 2 middle trees. We are camping at Ft. Flagler, and old army fort at the entrance to Puget Sound. It used to guard against enemy vessels who might try to attack Seattle, Tacoma, or the Bremerton shipyards.
we visited the little museum, and then walked back. We are going to have cheesesteaks for dinner.
That looks like a nice campsite J22.
Chinese Buffett sounds good.
I'll never own a boat or a swimming pool. Too much work. Having an RV is too much work as well. Just let me travel the world and stay a nice hotel. I don't mind hiking and site seeing in the heat. I remember Cambodia during their hot season was the hottest trip I've been on.
We had a no show tech and one of the managers told a coworker "6:1 with no tech is not unsafe, it's uncomfortable". I'm so happy that wasn't put in my direction or my inner witch without a filter would have something to say. A tech did finally come in. The initial one we were to get was a no show. WTH?
6-1 with no tech is NOT unsafe? Depends on a lot of variables, doesn't it?!
Nannie refused supper all evening. Then when I tucked her into bed and was on my way out of her room, she said, "Will I be able to get anything to eat?" I said, "NOW? We've offered you food for the last 5 hours and you said no, that you were not hungry. What do you want to eat?" She said she wasn't really hungry now, she just wanted to know about when she gets up.
Hubby's been nipping at his little bottles during the ball game (which we won 7-1) which made him very yakky and chatty. He is currently in the kitchen making a sandwich: Could you give me a knife? Can I have a few paper towels? Where is the mayonnaise?
I left him down there and hope he can make his way up the stairs when he is through eating. And in case you were wondering, the dishes have not been washed.
Tawk atchoo tomolly y'oll!

Dianah I made eggs and bacon in the morning and marinated chicken breasts for lunch
Stars that was pretty funny
NJ22 that sounds like nice weather
Ado thanks for sharing the picture
Was a nice day yesterday, though hot. Did my bird watching although I did not see many birds. Have been doing more with plant identification and noticed a bunch of native species
Came home to cool off an cook lunch. Then went out for a brief bike ride although it was quite hot. Spent the rest of the day inside, started to watch the original Pink Panther but found it kinda dull so switched to Star Trek II instead
Was smart last night and put the earplugs in before bed and had fewer problems with the fireworks keeping me up
Today should be fairly ordinary, will do grocery shopping after work if the rain isn't too bad. If so I'll do laundry instead
Another hot day in the low 90s, storms expected for the afternoon and evening
