Tweety glad you were able to find the pills

Stars hopefully he'll do OK on the Ativan.  Have never heard of worms and knee surgery

NJ22 that was good that you didn't have to work after all

Dianah it was eggplant manchego, kind of like eggplant parmagiana

Was a fairly slow day at work, though several of the calls took a long time and I had one caller angry with the insurance adjuster about an exam she had to have.  One of those that went around and around complaining.  Thankfully she eventually did speak to the adjuster directly so I didn't have to be the go between.  Will follow up today, hopefully it was resolved

Was a quiet night.  Exercised, worked on knitting, watched Star Trek.  Emailed the counselor again as it's been 2 weeks and she still has not gotten back to me with dates and times.  Feeling a bit down and I wonder if that's one reason why

Tonight have another online meeting with the political group, then will do grocery shopping and stop at the library

Will be cooler today, in the upper 30s, might get some rain and snow

Well, Happy New Year 2023, all! I kind of went down a rabbit hole the last few days. Feeling a little despondent, plus I stupidly installed a puzzle app and spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to solve the last one. I told Hubs that as soon as I solve this I can have my life back. I think I will delete that app. Ridiculous waste of time. But Hubs and I also agreed that we need to give ourselves a break. The last couple of months have been busy (we traveled twice, after all) and we need to just give ourselves and each other some grace. Coming here and catching up on all the posts has been like visiting with friends -- I appreciate every one of you.

I did get the first shingles vaccine Friday evening. The pharmacist strongly recommended not getting the bivalent Covid booster at the same time so I didn't. My arm was a little sore, and at some point I felt slightly feverish but not a big deal.

I did not have to work over the holiday weekend, although at about 12:30 am on New Year's Day the nurse manager sent out a text asking if anyone wanted to pick up a critical shift that morning because someone was trying to call off. ? Since I had stayed up really late (finally finished the ebook I was reading -- The Lincoln Highway) I did not feel up to working that day, and the choir was singing in church. Twin A and I took soft drinks over to the hospital at midnight Saturday to have a toast with Twin B while he was working. Hubs and Gma stayed home. Twin A and I played a game of Scrabble and he actually beat me.

We like to celebrate birthdays with a special meal and cake. I don't always get a card or gift but next week Hubs will be 64 so I ordered a card with the Beatles singing "When I'm 64" and also a shirt with those lyrics "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64".

Stars, I'm glad you're dh is trying again to detox. Hoping for real progress.

I haven't read a huge number of books this year. In the last few weeks I've read slowly. And still sit about halfway through The Grapes of Wrath. There's a book club meeting near the end of January and I have borrowed but not started the e-book, Once There Were Wolves.

Will take down the Christmas stuff this weekend.

I need to reduce screen time for sleep hygiene reasons. I used to have an actual Kindle and don't remember why I stopped using it. It was the low-glare type that shouldn't qualify as "blue light". I wonder where it is. Ah, but the number and storage and organization of too many possessions is one of the herculean tasks we must face this year.

My husband's pharmacist tried to discourage him from getting the shingles and covid at the same time, something about double the side effects. I said, so what does that mean, feel yucky two different times instead of one? Anyway, he got a COVID and a shingles together, and COVID #2 and prevnar together, and had a sore arm and not much else.  Heck, we give kiddos multiples all the time.

I took youngest ds over to look at a used car to buy for him,  to use if and when he gets a job. A guy who worked on our house remodel a few years ago is selling it and I think we are going to get it. Ds is checking with his friend who is a car guy, first. I wish eldest ds (also a car guy) was around to consult too, but he is vacationing in Yellowstone, cross country-skiing with his wife, a camera, and the bison. We stopped and had lunch on the way home. It is clear and cold. Chance of rain tomorrow.

I get caught up in  game apps from time to time. I will play it while I'm watching the news or Jeopardy. My eyes will start to feel gummy if I play too long, and that's my signal to do something else.

Hmm, I am pretty sure it's Wednesday the 4th?

I think we are having tacos tonight for dinner.

Good evening.

The shingles vaccine knocked me down but I've had four uneventful covid so would have taken them both as I know how that I don't react to covid.  If covid makes me ill I'd have to know if it's worse with the two together or the same.  I'm sure they couldn't answer that.  But I think I'd opt for two mild reactions rather than one big one.

Work was busy as the hospital is overwhelmed with patients.  This is our busy season, but it's even busier than normal.

I was in charge again but had no patient assignment for 36 patients and lots of coming and going.  The manager asked me if I was okay staying in charge as I had a choice and I told her yes that I wasn't going to bail if she wanted me and she said she does.  Soon it will be someone else's turn.  Witchy night shift nurse was very nice because she overslept and kept me late.
