Tweety I also don't make resolutions, but do set goals for the new year

NJ22 it's mostly been pretty gray here too

Dianah glad you are recovering

Stars I hope you get that birth certificate soon

Felt better as yesterday progressed.  Work was mostly slow in the morning, a bit quicker in the afternoon.  Stopped briefly at the store and exercised.  Otherwise a quiet day

Today have laundry and the remainder of the grocery shopping after work.  Will also do some more planning for this potential trip, the state park is near Rockford and I have to research more what there is to do there

Will be another fairly cold day here in the mid 30s

Good morning!

Joe, glad you're feeling better and had a decent day.  Hope today is the same.

Woke up around 1:45 restless for some reason.  Took 1/2 of a klonopin to settle down and then slept.  One of my goals was to work on my sleep hygiene and so far not so good.   So I requested a refill on the Klonopin again, but will still work on it.

I talked to the family for a bit yesterday to check in.  My mother's dementia is not bad thankfully but she had no memory of a trip we took when I was a kid.  I talked to my sister nearly two hours, letting her vent about her daughter and talking about other things like politics and food.

Not much going on today.  I settled on making a chickpea and pasta dish that isn't all that complicated to make.  Basically make a tomato based sauce and add chickpeas.  I gained four pounds this holiday season.  But I've been back on track since New Years and hopefully can lose them by returning to a healthy plant-based diet.

Gouda Aphtanoon!

SiL and BiL came over around noontime, she had curtains for Nannie's bathroom window, so she can't be seen from outside! And she brought over a hideous shower curtain for the tub/shower. Once she got it up, she decided she didn't like it and will get a different one "next time". She's gone to work now, and BiL has gone to Lowe's to get the blinds to install in Nannie's bathroom, my bathroom, and two for the French door in the den. (Well, one half is windowed, but doesn't move; the other half is the door) He will be back in a little while, to put up the blinds. Still waiting for the maintenance guy to come do the 6 month check-up on the HVAC unit, their appt time is between 12 noon and 4:30 PM. Will have to run out to stock up on the things we use up the quickest (yogurt/dogfood, etc.) SiL is going to have Nannie's disposables delivered from Amazon, so that will save some money (I guess). Oh, and BiL is going to write me a check for $500, for what I paid for that was for Nannies...I can deposit it in my checking acct....and I will continue to give him the receipts on which I mark which items were for Nannie, which items we share, and my items and the dogs items. That's the way we are going to work it for now. I don't see how we can separate the things we share, meal-wise, like sometimes I pay for things at the store, and if we do takeout, I pay cash. If 'they' don't like it when they have to audit the guardianship in a year's time, maybe they will be able to make some suggestions. Meanwhile, at least 'we' agree on things, thankfully. It is slowly coming together and working out.

Momo still thinks I am about to leave the house whenever SiL shows up. (whine, whine, Don't go Mom! Don't leave me here!) and she barks, growls at BiL, but when he puts down the back of his hand for her to smell. then she's mostly okay about his presence. I reckon eventually she'll get used to him coming over. It's not like we all are going to be living in each other's pockets, so to speak, but there will be more coming and going by them, from now on. Like, when hubby passed, they folded me into that part of the family, so that's a good thing. And not to be cynical, but since they have seen Nannie's Will, they KNOW that everything will be MINE when she passes, so why wouldn't they be nice to me?! ? But I don't get the feeling that I had before, that they might be looking for a way to manipulate things to their favor.

If I were to ever win a lotto or sweepstakes, and/or when I sell the house and property, after MY needs are met, and I know I have enough to live on, along w/ my SS check, I have a list of who gets $ help first and etc......My sister is going to get a check, then my step-dgt, then SiL/ BiL, maybe niece and nephew and the two grand-dgts. Can't possibly know amounts,  but my sister will get a HONKIN' big check, she and her hubby REALLY need to be able to get out of that junky mobile home of theirs before it totally falls apart. Feel obliged to hubby's memory to give some $$ to my step-dgt, but while it would be a nice amount, I'll not go into hock for her! Haven't heard one word from her except the Xmas text on my phone!  It's like once her Daddy died, Nannie and I aren't on her radar anymore. Not an unexpected turn of events.

But, right now the plans about future $  is all a MOOT POINT! Just thinking out loud. And things can certainly change between now and then, so I'm not tied to any particular ideas.

BiL hauled off the trailer with the discarded old furniture and things not worth selling, and will bring it back empty so I can fill it up again! Wheee! And SiL said she will help me look up, price, and sell the pipes worth anything, online, whenever I get to that point. She has done sold stuff online like that  before, and "I" don't have a clue how to sell stuff over the internet. I will be there with her when we do that, however. I'm not worried about it. She has also agreed to be my POA and executrix when I make my new will; I sure don't want step-dgt to be in charge of anything of mine! And SiL has done those things for her mom and her sister, so is familiar with what all is involved legally, etc.

All for now....

Still gray here, but no rain. Youngest ds and I played online trivia last night and tied for 3rd place. The visual round consisted of scenes from movies made in 2023, and we didn't do so good. Still, it was fun.

I took a nice bike ride, then puttered in the yard. I told some of the perennials that are poking up out of the ground that they are waking up too soon and should go back to sleep for a couple of months. Then came in and mopped up the floor in one bathroom and hallway. Our little girl dog seems not to want to potty in the rain, and has missed the indoor pads several times. Sigh.

I am accompanying sis to her follow-up neurology appointment tomorrow. I know he will dismiss it, but I was reading an article in the Washington Post about a medical mystery, and it sounds sort of like sis.

Dianah, that cold that is lingering at your house sounds awful. I am glad you and your hubby are giving yourselves time to heal.

NoStars, that is really nice of your in-laws to respond so quickly to Nannie's window issues. The Amazon thing sounds very helpful, and it can even be set up for routine delivery, plus fewer receipts to keep.

Joe, our state parks have a variety of things to do. Some are just picnic, some camping with cabins, some with boating and or hiking.

Hello all!

No Stars, it certainly seems things are going better for you (and Nannie) lately, as far as things getting resolved and arranged (with BIL's and family's help).  GOOD!

Joe, "in the 30s" sounds BRRRRRR to me!!

Tweety, that pasta sounds good.

We both slept pretty well last night, and today I feel "Normal," whatever that is, LOL!

Dh took the car to the body shop to get their estimate of how long we will need to leave it (and get a rental car), for the body work to the left lower grill area.  While he was gone, I cleaned out the bathtub in the bathroom that is not really used, and washed the shower curtains from both bathrooms, and then washed the vent above the stove.  By the time he got home, I was done with those chores.  And I'm not exhausted, so that's good.  We will get a rental car next week, and then drop off the car at the body shop for the work to be done.

It's been sprinkling on and off, temps in the high 50's.  I guess about an hour ago, some ppl saw hail about 15 min from here, but we never saw anything like that!  Tomorrow should be clear.

Have a good evening!
