Stars that's good that they're willing to help out once a week

Tweety that does look good, I wish the food I make turned out that way

Hi TMB

NJ22 I don't think I've heard of making shortbread the night before

Was hoping for a slower day at work yesterday but between the documents emails and calls it wasn't.  Got a new case but had to save it for today.  Hopefully today will  be better

After work did the Covid test which thankfully was negative.  Then went to the grocery store and the bank.  Took longer than expected, so glad I skipped book club.

Tonight after work I'll head out to meet the gay group at a restaurant, after testing again just to be safe

Cousin is having Christmas at 3pm on Christmas Eve, given that it's Sunday I was hoping it would be earlier so I could attend the 4pm Christmas service.   Now I'll have to decide if I want stay up for the 10:30 service.  Although it being Sunday I'll  already have been at church that morning

Going  to be a little warmer today, will get up to about 40

Good morning!

Joe, hope work is okay for you.

I got up with my alarm at 7:00.  I took the benzo and slept well, getting up once and finding the light on so I must have fallen asleep reading again.  That's okay as I like falling asleep quickly.

Not much to do today.  Just going to putz around and go to the gym.  Going to make another white bean stew recipe that's not too fancy.  I got some some "kasha", a buckwheat grain, that apparently is used in Eastern European and Jewish cuisine.  I got it on sale and will cook it in the rice cooker to go with the beans.  I'm pretty sure I've had it before but it's been a couple of decades.

Have a great day!

Hello all!

We had our last pre-Christmas Disneyland visit yesterday.  It was a very nice day, not too hot, not too cool, till after the sun went down and then it was a little chilly for me.  I did bring a wrap, and used it!  The lights and decorations were beautiful!  During the day we caught three different music groups, one of them for two sets.  Dh had a little trouble with a rubbing spot in one of his shoes, and ended up with the beginnings of a blister.  Due to that, we didn't walk as much as we usually do, didn't go over to California Adventure.  But we still got 7800 steps in, 3.66 miles.  AND, -- the highlight of the day! -- we met up with a trio whom we'd met at Dapper Day, a month ago.  They were two ladies and a man, dressed as the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty: Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather.   They were so cute!   In chatting with them then, (and yes I got a photo!) the man revealed his wife had died two months previous, and he was participating in her memory -- so very touching!  They recognized us yesterday (we dressed dapper, of course), and came right up to chat.  Apparently they come to the parks most Tuesdays!  Hopefully we will meet up with them again!  It was so good to see them!

I had a hard time falling asleep last night, so perhaps a nap is in the cards for today...

Joe, your Christmas schedule is quite busy!  Good on ya!

Tweety, that Asian dish looked wonderful!

Have a good day!

So, last night I did turn out my light at 1:30 AM and then, as usual I woke up one hour later, and then woke up again, another hour after that. Eventually I fell back to sleep. Curious as to why I do that, when I never did before!  Hubby used to do that ALL the time, so maybe he is 'haunting' me ? ? and making it happen. Yuh, right!

And so much for setting the alarm clock to be disciplined! ? I woke up one time (I think about 7:30 AM) and turned off the alarm; didn't get up until 11 AM!  Oh my Stars, I am so good at ignoring myself sometimes! Oh well, tomorrow is another day. Or, I could make it my New Year's Resolution...except I am not very good at Resolutions, usually only lasting maybe three days with my intended 'new' habits. Not too upset with myself, though. It's not like I have a full itinerary and have to be on the stick about anything. I do get up if I have an early appointment, so no worries.

BiL is out of the hospital; they discharged him last night. But SiL says his foot (or leg?) is edematous. She took pictures of it and sent them to his doc, and they are making sure to keep it elevated. I hope BiL isn't as slack about that kind of thing as hubby was. Hubby's reaction to me telling him to elevate his hand, arm, foot, or leg was: "In a few minutes"....which, of course, seldom came. Moot point for him now, though.

SiL said my nephew agreed to help her here, to shuffle some of my furniture around. But I still have some more things to do in that room before I will be ready to have the furniture re-arranged, so no rush. They are also still planning to bring over a BIG trash bin into which I can throw all the useless stuff, like the awfully old  'dead' double-bed box Spring and mattress that has no value, and only takes up space.

I just left a text message for the woman who wants the bedroom (single bed, etc) furniture she has been promising to come and get for at least two years! She needs to nail down a time when her friend and his truck can be accessed. Since it is close to Christmas, I told her that if the stuff can't be picked up by mid-January, I'm calling the Salvation Army to come and get it. Not to be mean, but I will need to clear out that front room....because ...ONE day, it IS possible that Nannie will pass away, and I will need to have that room for Step-dgt and her girls to come stay over for the funeral. Of course, Nannie has no intention of dying, so it's not URGENT, I just want to get that room DONE! It was meant to be taken care of YEARS ago! Well, I declare 2024 to be THE year for getting that mess sorted out and cleaned up. The sheets on that King-size bed may very well be disintegrated by now, as it has not been slept in for....maybe MORE THAN 15 YEARS! YIKES! Practically all of the stuff ON that bed will be tossed out; lotsa junk! And then, if Nannie ever does die, there will be THREE newly emptied closets, that are full of much of her (now unused) Christmas Decorations. Those closets can be used for storage spaces instead of the supposed 'guest room" being conscripted as the catch-all room!

Listen to me, chomping at the bit! I know it will happen, but yesterday would've been nice! It is so sad that hubby became such an alcoholic that he was not able to do SO MANY of the things he'd wanted to do. But now I am large and in charge (well, sort of) so I want to ACCOMPLISH what I have been waiting to have at least started-on for these last 7 years. He kept saying, "We'll get around to it, don't worry." Since 'we' is now ME,  *I* AM getting around to it, by golly, by gosh, by gee!

Nanny is napping....YAY! I'm going to putz and putter around doing some little tasks here and there.

Later, y'all~

Walked through all the rooms, and with a quick count, I can tell you that Nannie's angel collection has AT LEAST 46 visible angel figures. Probably has more that are stowed away somewhere. But, I guess that means this house is thoroughly ? BLESSED!

Good evening. Cool and overcast today, rain supposed to start in the morning. The electrician came today and replaced the ceiling fan, so the only repair left from the tree of doom is to replace the garage door opener. I went appliance shopping with sis. She is getting a new fridge and dishwasher. And she has a contractor rebuilding her front steps. We stopped for a quick lunch. Then I came home and tried making another one of dh's cookie recipes he found on line and made a royal mess. I'm gonna say that recipe is out, too. I spent 2 hours making 3 doughs and then rolling them together, but the roll just fell apart. I am really starting to hate cookies.

Sorry to learn the cookie experience is being naughty!  I haven't made many rolled-and-cut cookies, mainly I do drop cookies.  My one recipe, Spice Cookies With Pumpkin Dip, has to be rolled into a ball and then rolled in sugar, then it bakes into a circle.  I have also made chocolate chip cookie dough and pressed it into a pan, to be baked all at once (like brownies) rather than dropping. each. cookie. onto. the. baking. sheet.  Gettin' lazy, I am!

Wishing you better success with the next batch!
