NJ22 that seems like a rather frustrating day

Stars might be time to discuss the possibility of hospice with the doctor

Ado doesn't surprise me that peoples' stories often do not add up

Londonflo hospice seems like it might be a good option

Tweety had a similar experience yesterday, went grocery shopping then had to go back a 2nd time for things I had missed or forgotten to include on my list

Hi sirI

Work was fairly busy in the morning although it settled down towards the end of the day.  Hoping today will be a bit calmer, I think it will be barring anything new

After work went to the grocery store.  Then went a 2nd time for the stuff I forgot the first time.  Rather annoying given the hot weather.  Fast went better than expected, wasn't too hungry even at the end of day.  Storms in the evening were not as bad as expected

Today have a dinner with the over 50 group tonight, hopefully the traffic won't be too bad

Weather will be much cooler than yesterday, in the low 80s, a big relief

SiL just called me and said she had called up to the Senior Daycare Center to find out how long the waiting list is and when it might be possible for Nannie to get in there....found out there are THREE different waiting lists....one is the Centers waiting list, one is for medicaid patients, and the third one is the County's list! Nobody told her about the three lists before and we can't figure out why. But anyway, a social worker is going to call SiL and see if Nannie qualifies under the third list, which might get her in sooner....for at least 2 days a week. Don't know anything firm yet, but there is hope in our lifetime, I think.

It's supposed to be a bear of a heat index today...98 with 'feels like' of 103 degrees. I hope Nannie doesn't get all restless and insist on going outside. Even what they say on the TV weather report doesn't actually sink in when they ralk about the danger of high heat, especially for the elderly. But, if Nannie doesn't believe she is elderly.....Anyway, we may have an argument today about her going out. She certainly isn't going to go out and walk the driveway. On the other hand, I do need to drive out to pick up the yogurts I forgot to get. Who knows if I will get her out in the car for that brief trip to the store....we'll see.

Later, y'all!

I don't know about the hospice thing for Nannie. The last time we talked with the doc about it and had a hospice nurse come out to assess her, she didn't qualify. Will have to put out another request and see where that goes. She may have advanced a lot further in her dementia now, but I can't see them putting her on a hospice program yet. I don't think they have 'hospice' for really annoying patients, so....

I am not going to take Nannie out, or go out myself today! SiL said she eats Activia yogurt and she thinks it helps her move her bowels regularly, so she is going to get Nannie some Activia and bring it by tomorrow. Meanwhile, I didn't give Nannie Cheerios for breakfast because I re-discovered the Raisin Bran Crunch in the cupboard. So, if I give her the same breakfast tomorrow....just maybe it'll help her evacuations! I will mention the Metamucil to SiL tomorrow. The reason I didn't get it before is that it is so very, very expensive. But now, SiL has Nannie on the kind of insurance that will pay for OTC things as well, so we can get that started too.

And ssshhhhhh! Nannie is sleeping! I adjusted a pillow behind her neck to keep her head from falling off.....well, rats, I just jinxed myself by saying that she is asleep, 'cause she just woke up! So, I have RE-adjusted the pillow behind her neck and put the back of the recliner down a little more so she appears to be more comfortable (let us pray it will entice her back to sleep!) And I am doing a not-very-noisy task....folding laundry! In a while, there are (again) dishes in the sink that will need washing. I swear they multiply overnight when nobody is looking. But IF Nannie will be cooperative and stay asleep for another hour, or hour and a half, she won't hear me upstairs doing the dishes. She's been getting 'deefer' (More deaf. Spell-check wanted me to say 'deeper' but that is NOT the correct word. Besides which, she is actually getting shallower!)

Gma has hospice care. Not that she's in a hurry to go anywhere. Friday is her 94th birthday.

RE: Nannie chewing with her mouth open: Gma has some unappetizing habits, like picking up the edge of the tablecloth to wipe her nose. She used to always keep a tissue tucked in her sleeve but if given access to a box of tissues now she will take them all out and tuck them into her pants/shirt/whatever. Maybe we could give her a handkerchief to tuck into her sleeve. Not sure she'd remember what it was for, except that it was a pretty ingrained habit. More likely she'd stuff it in her pants.

Joe, your over 50 group seems to meet fairly often (or I lose track of how fast time flies). I imagine that even when the group is small it is nice (maybe better than if the group is large, because it's easier to have conversation).

Hubs sold the old mower. Woohoo one less thing sitting around...

It's choir practice night tonight and I need to get some meal planning and grocery buying done. Last night I just picked up what I needed for last night's meal.

So I inquired about the eye surgeon's problem with the hospital cat. His reasoning has something to do with concern that hair or dander would be in the air. The cat is (of course) outside and there's only one person she lets touch her... I just don't see that there's really a risk. But I also know there's no questioning this guy so it doesn't make any difference.

Hello all!

Ado, hmmmm...  I came home one week after mitral valve repair.  I had changed the sheets before the surgery, and covered the pillows with the bedspread so the cats wouldn't lie on the sheets (so they would be "clean").  No way I could sterilize the room or the house.  I figured my body was used to the cat dander, I.e., there were no big changes in home flora or fauna.  I did fine, healing postop (though the first three months postop, dh cleaned all the litter boxes).  Eyes might be a different issue, according to your eye surgeon.  Yay for removal of one more household item!

Joe, I hope your dinner is good tonight, with good conversation as well.

No Stars, did Nannie fall back asleep?  I hope you can get some sort of 'official' respite (more than you have lately).

My big outing today was: I just returned from the grocery store!  We are re-stocked on popsicles and I have some more salad makings (I will usually make a salad for lunch).  I got fixings for a one-pot pasta dish (using my low-carb pasta), will make that in a day or two, when the lentil stew is dwindling.  Of course, I can make it tomorrow and then freeze it, and then it will last longer.

It was around 98 degrees out, and not bad humidity (23%).  Not complaining!  It would just be nice to have a cool evening rather than in the 80's!

I felt sniffly and sneezy yesterday (having just been to Disneyland on Monday, of COURSE I would feel Sneezy and possibly Dopey!), so took it easy (ran no errands) and the Nap Bug bit in the afternoon.  I must have needed it.  I feel more "normal" today.  I read some in the morning, waiting for dh to feed the cats.

Y'all stay hydrated, and have a good evening!

G'day

Busy day in med surg land, lots of discharges and admissions.  They added a new meeting in the morning for charges to attend to talk about discharges and staffing for the day.  Took just a few minutes, but yet another thing.

Isn't there a saying about how meetings are just another way to avoid working? I've always hated meetings at work; probably give 'em a 9 + 1/2 for the Irritation Factor, and a 10 for the Utter Stupidity Factor, and to be 'kind' (smirk) a 9 for the Uselessness of the 'Information Factor'. Not that I am brilliant and know everything, but, but, but.....I find the whole process exasperating, and even worse, much worse, if they want you to come in on your day off! I just think there could be a more efficient, less time-wasting way to take care of business. But I am not here to solve any problems! Just venting and  commiserating with Tweety.

dianah, Nannie kept going in and out of sleep, one time opening her eyes and saying, "Are we going to go out anywhere?" ( I thought she was gonna say "Are we there yet?")When I said "no." she pulled a face and closed her eyes, frowning. But she didn't stay asleep. I called for a pizza and boneless, nekkid chicken wings to be delivered. Nannie ate the Ranch Dip with a spoon, like it was a dessert. Then I had to explain to her that no, what was on her plate "was not something that someone spilled something on", it was a piece of PIZZA, which is SUPPOSED TO have a bunch of different chopped up foods on it.....🙄🙄🙄. Then she just said, "oh, okay." and snarfed it down.

SMH! Never a dull moment....and how I long for them....🤗
