It's still morning, for real! I woke up at 9:30 AM and tried to fall back to sleep, but my brain wasn't having any of it, and I had to get up. But, I AM wide awake, and have gotten Nannie up, too.

Hubby's new glasses are in at the Eye Center, but after fussing that he wished they would hurry up and call him about them, now that they have, he said he'd rather wait until tomorrow! I guess he's nipped a little too much this morning while he was sitting out in the Ford. Now he has to go upstairs and nap in his bed! Okay, whatever!

The ballgame is supposed to be with the Cubs, but it says on the TV channel listing that they are playing the Angels again. I don't think so! I thought they finished that series of games yesterday. Well, doesn't matter, because we'll still watch it anyway.

Got a call yesterday from a different person at the bank, "Nothing urgent" she said. I am waiting for a return call....I hope this is about taking off the big-box-store charge on the card on 7/17, for $213.64, a purchase we didn't make....and wouldn't since we had trouble with that particular store at least 12 years ago, in Asheville. Anyway, wanting to get that charge off her card and then cancel the card. We'll see....

j22, sorry about those poor li'l feet of yours....that was a LOT of walking!

Hey Joe, Tweety, dianah, and Ado, and anyone else reading or posting. I know I always leave someone out, even though I don't mean to. Slick-spots in my brain, doncha know!

May be back by here later to check on you'n's~

Hello from Logan Airport. We walked around a little this morning and checked out the Boston Library. What a beautiful building. I continue to be struck by the age of buildings here. In Washington state, "old" means built in the 1800s, here I think it means 1600s. Out flight is delayed, which is no surprise. At least it's direct from Boston to Seattle, followed by a little 30 minute commuter flight to home.

Watching the game, and it is with the LA Angels. It is only the top of the 5th inning and Braves are ahead 9-1, and I LOVE IT! Ozzie Albies hit a triple, and when he pours on the speed going to third base, his helmet flies off and his hair is going straight back; zoom-zoom!

Hubby told me earlier to never mind the dishes, he'd wash them later. He just went out to "the shopping center", so I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't do the dishes.

And to complete the feeling of deja vu today, I am STILL waiting for a woman from the bank to call me back.

Lah-dee-dah, lah-dee-dah!

Good morning!

I hope when I'm 93, I'm demented and thinking that I'm 45 or 18.  Being 93 and declining with impending death is just too tragic (even worse when people can't wait for you to die).

Worked today.  Bleh......I get tired of starting with 6:1 and getting "where are you putting these five post op patients?"  "when is your discharge leaving"...."this patient has been waiting in PACU for two hours".  I wish I cared about you're poor planning for admissions to my unit, but I can't, I'm busy with my six patients.

It would be great if she could think she's 45 and be happy but in her mind she's 45 and her man has taken up with another woman. So it's really very sad.

Took hubby to get his glasses. Now (11PM) he says the left lens is not right and he has to go back over there tomorrow to have them and his eye checked out again.

Earlier tonight...after supper, he went up to bed to rest and slept for 2 hrs; when he came back downstairs he thought it was early morning and asked if we (Nannie and I) had stayed up all night or why did we get up so early. ?

He did do the dishes, though. And the woman from the bank did call me back. She gave me a number for the card fraud dept, and made sure hubby was noted to be the Power of Attorney so he can talk to them on the phone and get this taken care of.

Good night!

Yes being demented and being in an unhappy place is sad to see unfold, especially when you're helpless to fix it and it saps all your energy.  I saw that in one of my patients yesterday.  She was hollering "help me" for no good reason and couldn't tell me why.  I had another elderly man that had colon cancer and many complications and was in and out of ICU for about a month.  Finally was discharged to our rehab last night.  His wife, equally as old, was there from 7AM to 7PM to keep him safe and fed and he had a sitter and night.  She did this day in and day out.

My sister found my parent's address book when she was cleaning up and looking for something and was saddened to see all but one marked out.  They all have died and the one not marked out moved to be with her family out of town. My dad's brother is gone, but he still has a cousin living.  My mother's brother is gone.   Their health is failing and they are aware of it all, expect my mother is quite forgetful these days and for a while wasn't in a happy place, but it was a side effect of her medication and is better now.  Getting old sure isn't something to look forward to.  Especially knowing what a burden it is to your offspring or spouse.

I have a lot of compassion for caregivers.  You guys are the forgotten ones.
