Tweety hope the refrigerator can be repaired quickly

NJ22 glad you are feeling better

Stars hope it is a quiet afternoon there

Ado I remember the old metal ice cube trays

Yesterday was a bit slow at work...which was good as the vaccine reaction really hit me later in the morning.  Headaches and body aches, chills and fever, was a struggle to get through the work day.  Things eased off in the afternoon with the help of some Tylenol but got worse again later that night.  Did feel well enough to get the grocery shopping done.  Thankfully I slept OK last night

Feel better this morning, will keep an eye on symptoms.  Should be a pretty ordinary day, do have a political thing after work although an online version is available if I don't feel up to it

Another day in the low 50s here

Good morning!

Joe and J22, hope you guys continue to mend.

Stars, sorry about the hot flashes.  Weird.

I remember those metal ice trays.  Guess we didn't know better, but I really love my automatic ice maker.

Ado, you're probably no more messy than most people.  That many people things just get that way and you have to clean.  Always something.  As soon I clean up up one thing I notice another area needs cleaning.

So the refrigerator repair person was a no show and I've been rescheduled to Thursday.  Took me several phone calls and getting through AI to get to a live person to have him tell me I was rebooked and too bad too sad there is nothing I can do since it's warranty repair.  I was livid, saying how unacceptable it was, that I was throwing away rotting food and it was still "too bad, to sad".  I'm still mad but what can I do.

Fortunately I have one of those college dorm refrigerators that my housemate can put his yogurt and other things in.  Also fortunately the freezer still works.  Tomorrow I'm at work but my housemate is going to be home so hopefully they won't no-show and can at least diagnose the problem and get me a plan.

The roofer called me "how are you doing and how do you like your completed job and we're ready for you to pay".  No they aren't done and no I didn't pay.  I just can't.....

Tweety, This whole thing about the roof and the fridge sounds like a bad SNL skit. What ever happened to pride in work, consideration for the customers, and follow-through? How can that company say they are done and they'd like to be paid? We are held captive by a bunch of shoulder-shruggers who expect us to accept their ways of doing business, but what choice do we have? I'd volunteer to go kick THEIR shins, but they probably wouldn't feel a thing. More's the pity. GADS!

Yup, so Nannie did her little routine again, of getting up and sitting in the cold, dark den....at 2 AM and again at 4 AM. When I got up to pee at 6 AM, there she was again, in the recliner. I just opened the drapes and unlocked the back door for when SiL got here, (which was at 8 AM) and left Nannie sitting in the recliner.  Momo didn't even bother to bark the third time Nannie got up out of bed. And yes, Nannie continues to completely make her bed every. single. time. she gets up. I have not checked the status of her sheets, so don't know if they're wet or not. 🙄

I have to go out and do a few errands. Need to get 'em done with the very least little out-pouring of what money is available. Fortunately I have found that Harris-Teeter's Columbian coffee pods make decent coffee and cost less than half of any other coffee pods. It's another full week before my SS check comes. (I don't think I will be, but I hope I am not caught up in SS problems like some have been, due to our 'great leader'.) I hope that any automatic withdrawal payments DON'T make my checking overdrawn again. I am not the best money manager, that's for sure. 🤔 Maybe I'll eat ramen for a month and that'll help the wallet;  🤨 it won't help nutritionally, but.....

So I guess it is time to stop lolling in bed and get dressed. I will have to retrieve the Nannie-person from daycare just before 5 PM. I cannot sing, like the Rolling Stones, that "Time is on my side",  because it just plum ISN'T!

Oh woe, oh woe, me of the always-truncated "time off"!

Hello all!

I had a nice walk and catch-up with my friend S yesterday.  There were some beautiful rose bushes and geraniums we passed when we walked.  AND upon our return, she picked me a "mess of" oranges, blood oranges, lemons, and tangelos from their trees!  My fridge is stuffed full.  I had two tangelos for dessert after supper and they were so good!

Today is a planned puttering day, and do some exercises.  Real interesting 😉

Have a good day!

While I was shopping at Harris-Tee-hee, SiL phoned me to say she would pick up Nannie this afternoon. That's NICE news! 😊

I'm (not) sorry to say, I went a little overboard at the grocery store, but #1.) prices really are ^ ^ ^ UP.  And #2.) I eat way differently from Nannie. And #3.) Oh, heck, because I wanted to get what I wanted to get!! But a good thing about Harris-Teeter is they always give me a senior discount, which is nice because then I don't feel 'guilty' for indulging myself, and it does save me a good bit on the total.

Now I am reading my subscription of this month's FUNNY TIMES newspaper which arrived in the mail today. Two quotes from the CURMUDGEON column:

""In Wadi Halfa, the hottest time of the day lasts from 9 in the morning until 9 at night. (Michael Palin)

"If you don't believe hell freezes over, you haven't been to Nome." (Lucky Severson)

Here it is 70 degrees, sunny and windy. So much for climate talk!

Me'n'Momo are HOME ALONE! 😋 But probably not for too much longer. 🙁

Its turned out to be a pretty nice day, although the wind kicked up as we were working in the demo garden this morning, so I did not spread fertilizer, knowing it would just blow away. We did get 3 new roses planted, a new trellis put up, and some weeds dug. dh and I stopped by sis's house to put a yard sign up, advertising the yearly master gardener plant sale. And we helped her move some stuff, and I dug some plants in her yard to donate to the yard sale. Then we stopped for one of my guilty pleasures, Arby's roast beef sandwiches.

dh brought me home, washed and changed and left for a class. I took the dogs for a walk and now Im ready for a nap. I have less cough, but more wheezing. It's so weird to hear a little whistle at the end of your breath. I think I will likely lose my voice tomorrow.

I'll bet fresh oranges are really good. One of the things I've noticed when we travel to California is that the produce is really tasty, I suppose because it's fresher. I know here there are few things better than freshly picked strawberries or corn.

I don't think any grocery stores here offer a senior discount.

Ah, yes, the ol' metal ice trays. Then there were the white plastic? ones that you twisted, but only half of the cubes came out. We actually just buy a bag of ice every couple of weeks and dump it in the dispenser. dh likes it for his tea, and have an occasional gin and tonic.

Oh man, Tweety. That just sucks about your repairs. I hope things get finished quickly and in the best manner, ASAP! I will help stars kick those people (virtually) in the shins.
