Weatherford LVN-ADN?

Published

I will be graduating from LVN school in a few months and am looking into RN bridge programs already. Does anyone know about Weatherford's nursing program? I have all the prereq's right now to apply, but I don't think my GPA is high enough. Anyone know what the average GPA is of those accepted, and how many seats are actually open vs. number of applicants. Also how do they rank applicants to do decide acceptance? Thanks for any help.

I'm in the process of applying to Weatherford for the Summer 06 class. They get about 40-50 applicants and they take 20 per class which is only one time a year. They accept you based on a point system....total possible 18 pts. you get so many for your GPA, so many for the NET reading and math sections, and then so many for other classes being completed like psych, etc.. Applications start Jan 2 and go till March. If you would like to PM you can....I hope this helps. Have you taken the NET?

I can tell you that I applied Jan of last year for the class that started summer 05. My GPA was 3.2 but what got me was the NET test. It is all on a points system . You get so many points for GPA , then your NET results get a certain number of points. There are some other factors as well. The way it was explained to me was they have 11 openings and then depending on how many ADN students drop out at the begining of their second year they may have more seats. There was about 50 applicants and I wasent even on the alternant list. So I went and applied and was accepted to Tarleton State. I dont know what the cut off GPA was but I know it was the NET that got me. Good luck you never know until you try.

If it were me.... and it isn't....but you are asking.....so...I wouldn't use their RN program. Look for another program if you can. Tarleton has a phenominal program. TWU has a great one as well. Right now Weatherford's program is going through some changes. However, they have an excellant LVN program.

I have heard the same thing about their ADN program. Their NCLEX pass rates have been very low and they are on some sort of academic probation with the BNE. In fact, it's mentioned in one of the BNE quarterly newsletters. I think it's in either the current one or the previous one. We have students at Tarrant County who drive in from Weatherford for that very reason.
