wearing perfume to work

Thank-you. Perfume is just as offensive to some people as cigarette odor is to others.

I'm allergic to both smoke and colognes.

YES I have a short cord of tolerance: I have a short cord of tolerance with others that overstate their sensitivity for whatever reason...attention usually. They want to feel special.
EVERYONE likes to feel special...but to cry wolf? Overstate conditions? That is for what I have the short cord of tolerance.
People do it ALL the time. And it is seen ALOT in the ER.

I am "allergic" to smoke too!

The WHOLE human RACE is "allergic" to smoke!!!:chuckle :chuckle

They are SO "allergic" they get cancer from inhaling it TOO much.

But...a little exposure to a passing nurse/person/mailman isn't going to HURT MOST people most of the time!

The QUESTION is: Is the supposed "allergy" a true allergy wherein it will cause SERIOUS breathing/swelling issues OR is it JUST a sensitivity? Perhaps an "elected' allergy.

Example: I have TWO blue eyed blonde (white blonde) sons. They are sensitive to trees, dust, pollen. To the point they take spring and fall meds for it. They should NOT be outside during "those days" BUT they INSIST on going outside and playing football.

The urge to play football supercedes the "discomfort" of getting exposed.

NOW: IF they have a TEST in school they want to avoid, they will tell me "Mom, my allergies are just so bad (sniff, sneeze, red eyes...)". I will tell them: YESTERDAY during football practice you didn't seem to have those allergies..."

I guess incompacitation from a migraine when exposed to inconsiderate people posing as a garden of flowers doesn't consititute as being harmed.:selfbonk: :banghead:

Am sorry you are incompacitated from migraines. My dd had those sort of migraines (from light/noises/odors) until she had her second baby at age 27. Then they stopped completely.

Moderation is the key when using perfumes, scents, etc. LOTS of people would get a migraine if someone BATHED in cologne! :sniff:

But just because a FEW insensitive duffs "bathe in cologne" enough to incapacitate 1:10,000 should that cause EVERY last person to be restricted from a dab of perfume behind the ears and neck????

It is like the AIRLINES refusing to serve peanuts to the million passengers because 1:100,000 people are sensitive to peanuts!

What ever happened to people just sucking it up and making a personal adjustment so that 100,000 others do not have to ADJUST to an anomoly (sensitivity)?

I ADJUST by NOT bathing in cologne so as to NOT offend. I also ADJUST by bathing in deodorant soap and using deodorant (scented btw) so as NOT to offend.

There is a medium ground, and it is called MODERATION on the part of EVERYONE! :nurse:

Would it be alright if I worked side by side with you and smoked and blew a moderate amt into your face. I would appreciate a direct simple answer to these questions, please.

No. Tar and nicotine as well as 2nd hand smoke is carcinogenic. HENCE smoking LAWS due to the PROOF of such.

Perfume is NOT carcinogenic NOR is it offensive to MOST of the population.

Statistics? Perfume sales are in the billions. Scented candle sales are in the billions. Look it up on line.

I need to read up on the connection between allergies and cancer.

Can't say that I have read anything on that to date.
