We can do this!

Published

3 week orientation, on my own for a month now. Yesterday was a relentlessly wild day. Gave my first IM under duress, a completely different thing than giving an injection the patient wants. But I did it. I know now I can do this, I was born to do this.:nurse:

You can do it! We can all do it! We will succeed! :)

I am not so sure that I can, but I am going to keep trying! I am going to keep showing up & keep doing my best and hope it leads to success. Some days I come home and cry, other days I come home and feel like I did ok. But I am going to keep trying. At the end of this year if it still feels this way, I will go back to my former career. But I want to be successful.

Congrats on your victory!!!!!! Many more to come! Cheers!

congrats keep up the good work. bettyboop waht was your former career if you dont mind me asking?

i understand this is a venting site for nursing but does anyoneelse think its crazy that "just hang in there" is a motto repeated--repeatedly?

but kudos to the IM injector. we need some enthusiasm in this profession as i might need it some day

I worked in an office setting. Boring, but no nights or weekends and I sure do miss boring these days!

Old, but young in spirit nurse here...

Take it day by day. Time will pass and soon you will be the

preceptor for another nurse. The first year is the most challenging,

ask questions of your experienced RNs. It takes awhile to get

your sea legs. You are coming into nursing at one of the most

interesting, but challenging times......

Look for a mentor if possible who can help guide you, you will learn

that in addition to your skills and talent, your growth is shaped

by RNs who are professional and enjoy assisting new RNs.

This is where you get the real world exposure, verus the textbook

example.

In conclusion, don't freak out, it gets better so keep showing up.

Your patients appreciate you! :nurse:
