WCU CRNA Interview

Nursing Students SRNA

Hello all!

I will be making a trip to Asheville, NC next week for the long awaited anesthesia interviews at WCU. My family will be relocating there this fall. We are quite excited after hearing all the great things everyone has had to share about the area.

I was just wondering if anyone had any insights or tips for the upcoming interview. My nerves have started getting the best of me, so I chose the first spot available on Thursday for my interview. I was afraid I'd give myself an ulcer if I waited any longer! I've been reviewing my old CCRN notes and brushing up in numbers and interventions, but still.... I think it's hard to ever feel completely prepared.

Also, I'll be there a few days to check out different areas of town. If anyone is local and has any suggestions for nice family areas, daycares, etc. the information would be greatly appreciated! I have a toddler and am having hard times finding reviews or detailed info in local child care in the area.

I hope to see some of you at the interviews! Best of luck to you all. We can do this!

Hello and welcome to allnurses.com.

Your thread was moved to the SRNA forum for the best response. Good luck and we hope you enjoy allnurses.com.

I will be there on the fourth and am also nervously excited. Excited to see the area every time I mention Asheville to people they can only rave about the area. I am hoping to hear some of the same things the above poster said.

thanks and best of luck

Best of luck, jbrody! Have you heard much of their interview process? Only info I could find said a mix of personal and clinical. Where are you located now? We will be making the move from Houston. Tons of flooding here right now, so even though next week will be incredibly stressful, it will be nice to get away for a bit!

Coming from Arizona. I have read the same things about the interview process. I just hope my nerves don't get the best of me. What Day do you interview?

how were you notified? via email?

Oh, I decided to jump right in and do the 8am Thursday morning interview. I figured I would only stress the longer I waited. Just want to get it done! Wow... Arizona! You're coming quite a ways too! What type of unit are you coming from? I've done a little of everything, but currently do agency ICU staffing... So I see so many different things from week to week that I feel like I've lost a bit of my knowledge from my last staff jobs! Just trying to trust in the process... I did find a website icufaqs.org that had a lot of helpful review info.

And yes, we were notified via email last. I'm assuming they send it to the email account linked to your admission application.

I don't know much about the CRNA program at WCU, but I grew up near Asheville. I'm currently working on ICU experience for CRNA school so maybe I'll be there in a few years. Top local family things to do that I suggest are go to the Biltmore Estate for a day, take a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, eat at 12 Bones (president has been there twice), and just walk around downtown as there are many interesting local restaurants and shops. Good luck in your interview!

I will also be interviewing on Thursday in the afternoon. Same feelings as you all, nervous yet excited! I'm originally from the area so I have some favorite restaurants I will definitely be checking in at: Papas and Beer (best Mexican food I have ever had) and Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack if you like spicy food and don't mind splurging on the diet every once in a while! Also some restaurants in the Biltmore Park area where we will be interviewing but I recommend checking out downtown as cwnc1987 mentioned. It's a beautiful area! Trying to remind myself it's an accomplishment to get to this point and just to be myself for the interview. Look forward to meeting some of you and best of luck to everyone!

Tomorrow is it, guys! Everybody take a deep breath, have a drink, and try and get some sleep! We can do this. Best of luck again to all of you! We all know how hard we worked just to get to this point. :)

So what did everyone hear back? They called me on my drive back home Friday and told me I was an alternate. Pretty disappointed. Anyone know how the alternate system works? I'm wondering if they just tell everyone they're an alternate if they didn't get in. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

Hey guys! I was offered a spot in the upcoming January 2016 class! Just wondering if anyone else had heard! Im super excited! Hope to meet everyone soon! Let the journey begin!
