Hello,
I am going to be a first time applicant this June (SO nervous). Ofcourse, I really hope to get in I have been taking 1 or 2 classes here and there since 2007. I am applying with a 3.9 (I had to re-take BIO250 to get that GPA)and I am scheduled to take the TEAS in June. I was just wondering if there are any other future applicants out there.
Let's keep in touch!
I received my HAPPY LETTER today!!!!:yelclap::yelclap::yelclap: I also returned the green card in today to the nursing office.
@Rondafrank I am sorry you did not get in. The point system I believe is as follows: pre-req GPA 4.00-3.88 -60pts
3.87-3.76- 50 pts and so on. All classes taken at wc3 - 10 pts. TEAS 20 pts max. all co-reqs completed 5 pts. Half co-reqs completed 2.5 pts. medical exp. 10pts I think. I hope this helps
I got my acceptance later today at my mom's residence. It was postdated for yesterday. Unfortunately, I have already registered for 2 classes at OU which start tomorrow. I'm just going to wait and see what happens with these prep classes and whether or not I'm truly cut out for a fast-paced program. At any rate, I'll still be going to orientation. I hope to see some of you there :redbeathe!!! CONGRATS!!!!
I turned in my acceptance card this afternoon. Now that's done, I can rest easy. Using Youtube to familiarize myself with nursing training. Such as,
I didn't get in:crying2:. I talked to ----- yesterday and scheduled an appt to meet with her Friday. I want to go over my app. My GPA was 3.3, TEAS test scores were perfect, ALL pre-reqs done at WCCCD, all co-reqs except HSC100 done, no medical cert. Just want to find out what my total points were compared to others. Congrats to all that got in.
Good luck guys!!!! WCCCD nursing program is tough, fast paced and expect the disorganization to continue throughout the program. Get used to it now, because it will get worse.
Your first semester will be the most stressful due to the grueling schedule, but it is totally doable! Just stay focused and manage your time the best you can. You will have Fundamentals Lecture, fundamental lab and health assessment. You will have exams in lecture, check offs and exams in lab and check offs and exams in health assessment. Some will be weekly and some will be bi-weekly. Get a calendar to keep track of all of your exams and check offs and study, study, study. Get with a study group and utilize the nursing lab for check offs, make sure you have every detail down and take really good notes in class. If you have Mrs. D for fund lecture if she says something three times it will be on the exam. ) I recommend Test Success Fundamentals for nursing, The illustrated guide to NCLEX and if you haven't taken it already, medical terminology is a must for nursing school. Personally, I think it should be a prerequisite, but do yourself a favor and take that class or get a textbook and review it until you are familiar with the terms. It will save you a lot of time of needing to look up terms you don't know while studying for exams. Hope some of this helps. Btw, I am WCCCD graduate and have been working as an RN for over a year and a half!
Thank you Smackernurse! We need all of the encouragement we can get. I Have so much anxiety going into this with a family & pt. Work. I miss my kids just working on pre/co-req.s. My family has been very supportive. It is not going to be an easy road- I really want to be a great nurse!
