WCCCD Fall 2009

Published

Just wondering who went to the application meeting and what your thoughts are. I figured there were about 100-120 people. A few left because they were not prepared. I was one of the last to leave and was surprised at the people who were clueless.

If you are going to apply it was pretty painless. You fill out an application and check your stuff ten different times. You put them in order and she staples them together. The board you follow says letters will be out by July which I think is a little longer than they will actually be becasue the next application date is June for Spring 09.

Just a reminder:

Transcrips from all schools you have attended

HS Diploma or GED certificate

Net results

2 reference letters on letterhead if work related

1 essay

Police clearance ( within 30 days) people screwed up this one

Yellow information meeting slip

I think that is it.

Good luck to all:yeah:

I've just signed up at WCCCD's CPR, may 15 under their CEU. it is $61 and one day (8 hours). Figured if I find something cheaper I can cancel it. American red cross is $70 and two days (fours hours each). Have to wait until Monday to call the Heart Association and the Health Education Strategies place listed in the paperwork to find out when classes are and how much. Let me know if you find any place cheaper than $61 and what we really need (don't want to show up with the wrong card!!!)

ok thanks asamouse, im trying to register for the CPR @ WCCC but cant find it but yes im definitley going to search for other places also, and if WCCC dosent present the cards that day we may need to go somewhere else no time for its in the mail!!!!!!

They are only offering them at downriver (which is in May) and Northwest (June 13, way to late) campuses. The class is HLTC 1000. Going to stop by at the school to see if anyone has any info on how long it takes to get the card after the class or if you get it right there. The class at American red cross is even later, starts on May 21 (which I think is too late). I actually wish it was Monday so I can start calling all these medical places to get info and set things up!!!

ok thanks i really love this web site because im on vacation, and my mom actually called me and read me the whole letter but its nothing like reading everything yourself and making sure your on top of everything so this has been very helpful i dont come back until Tues so any new info you recieve keep me posted and again thank you!!!!!!!! oh and the class @ wccc would take care of everything right first aid and cpr im assuming

I know a lot of people that went to Concentra. They have several locations and some are open on the weekends and 24/7, www.concentra.com. Congrats and good luck.

Specializes in CICU.

Congrats to all that get in for the fall!

For those who got in what were your gpa's? Im still waiting on a letter and am wondering if my 3.5 will hold up. Need some stress relief lol

Contacted the number in our paperwork and found another CPR course. It is through http://www.healtheducationstrategies.com and they are $55 and are twice a week. You can go to their website to find locations and the calendar for times and days.

American Heart doesn't have any dates and they said their runs around $70.

Through WCCCD it is $61 and have two dates in May.

American Red Cross is $70 and have a date at the end of May.

Thats is what I have found out as of right now.

Hope that helps everyone!!!!

for those that recived the happy letter, i was wondering if u guys could maybe clarify something for me and i could be overthinking it but weve waited to long to get in for small mistakes. in the acceptace letter # 3 it states immunization information or evidence of antibodies must be provided either by blood titer reports or current booster vaccine (within 1 month). so trying to figure out what they actually meant within 1 month ,i was thinking that it all had to be dated within the 30 days that we turned it in on orientation. which means we couldnt start medical stuff until what 05/17 what do u guys think or am i just over thinking!!!!!!!!!!

I actually called (monday 27th) about the "within" one month for booster/titers and they said you can do it anytime from now just as long as you have it for orientation. That means you can even get them done the first week of June even though it is over a month from receipt of acceptance (though I won't wait that long). But I thought the same as you (had to get everything done from May 17 to May 27 to be within the months limits). And don't forget the tetorifice shot, it is not on the list of things to do but it is stated in the letter.

ok thanks, i had an appt today but i canceled wasn't for sure. are u going to hand deliver your blue card or mail it in.

I was thinking of hand delivering it. That way I know for sure that they got it!!!! Unless I can mail it now and call in a week to confirm that they got it. Maybe I should ask if I can do that...... That campus isn't very close to me.
