I recently just finished up my pre-reqs this summer at WCC. I took micro and A&P II, I ended up with an A in A&P II and a C in Micro. I'm really upset because I studied way more and put more effort into Micro than A&P and still ened up wit a C! It was the instuctor in my mind, not to make any excuses. But now my total GPA is a 3.38 with all my pre-reqs, does anyone think its even worth me trying to apply for january??

Of course, apply. But if you are really concerned about your GPA, take micro over. At the info meeting, I remember hearing: "If you get a "C" in one of the sciences, you probably want to take it over."
Check the other threads or call the NUR office & ask what the cut-off GPA was this term & that will give you a better idea.
If you take the micro again this fall, you will have a better chance to be in next fall. And look at the bright side--you can start working on your co-reqs. Good luck!

We (students beginning the program this month) have been repeatedly told by numerous sources, that the cut-off was at 3.7 for alternates. However, please don't let that intimidate you - this session was also the last time WCCCD allowed outside students to apply for admission without having (new requirement is already in effect) a minimum of twelve credit hours from WCCCD. From what we've been told, it was WCCCD's highest amount of applicants AND highest GPA cut-off in program history. Most are assuming that the cut-off for Winter 2009 will be somewhere in the usual range of 3.38 - 3.63.
I also got a "C" in Micro. I left the class feeling frustrated because I studying my butt off, and felt like it was a waste of money AND PRECIOUS TIME. My instructor was not only a new hire; she was a PT'er who had just graduated college, had no teaching experience, and was known for giving students wrong answers - due to her lack of experience as a whole. So, I opted to re-taking the course with an awesome instructor, who has students best interests in mind, yet expects hard work. It was also extremely obvious that she was very experienced, and knew her stuff!
I earned an "A" with the second instructor and walked away with a wealth of knowledge and confidence.
If I were you, I'd apply! Maybe I'm odd, but I would rather be told that I didn't make the Winter 2009 program, re-take Micro (Get that A!) and apply in confidence Spring 2009...then to not apply and take the chance of falling within the accepted GPA range, giving up 'your spot.'
I hope this helps. Best of luck to you!

Hi Tiffie, I understand why you are discouraged. I applied to the program in April with a 3.53 and didn't get in, although I am going to reapply for January. I have A's and B's in every class that is required for the nursing program. I am done with all of the pre-reqs and co-reqs. I am starting to retake classes, because this semster discouraged me so bad all I can think is what if the cut of is a 3.7 again. I have worked so hard so I totally understand where you are coming from. My friend was an alternate and the cut off was a 3.68. Still apply because you just never know what might happen. Does your co-req's help your GPA, becasue they will take the higher of the two. Good Luck and we will root for each other.
