Hi nursetobe :i dont know how helpful i can be since i have not attended wayne state myself but i have known quite a few people taht went there. I really haven't heard anything bad about their program other then how hard it is to get into as is every nursing school in MI. I;ve heard good and bad things about almost every school really so I don't think I would put too much stock in it. I start my nursing program next semester and when I first got my acceptance I started looking on here to see what people were saying about it but I stopped because everyone has their own experiences and opinions and really they are just that. Yours will be your own-good luck!!!!

@iluvpath. Did you get accepted into wayne states nursing program? If so, how does the math competency work out? thank you

No sorry I didn't go there, I'm at Madonna University. I just knew some people that have.

I'm in my last year and I honestly don't have one bad thing to say about the program other than I'm frustrated that the tuition keeps going up (but that's a university wide issue and one that almost everyone attending college is facing).

The professors have all been great with the exception of one who I'm not the hugest fan of but hey that would probably happen no matter what program you're in. The OB teacher is PHENOMENAL and we're so lucky to have her she has changed everything I've ever thought about birth. I feel so fortunate to have been able to attend the program and the passion that the professors have is contagious. I never thought that they would get me so excited about wounds and ostomies that it's what I want to get into when I graduate.

I'm curious as to why your fellow classmates are telling you not to attend-- are these students actually in the program or just doing prereqs like yourself? Are they applying at the same time and want less competition? Do they have any experience that they're basing this opinion on?

Right now the only frustration that many students have is that you aren't allowed to select your clinical sites and dates and times but you do have the opportunity to swap if you find someone willing to switch with you. I don't really care about that-- they can tell me where and when to go and I'll be there :) It is a fair amount of work and you will make great friends in the program and with the library. In the traditional program there definitely is time for a balance of social life and work, especially if you've completed all other degree requirements besides nursing courses like most of my classmates and myself did.

I don't check in too often, but feel free to ask any questions and I will try to help if I can.
