Wayne State MSN Fall 2017... when will admissions decisions be made?

Published

Hello there! I recently just applied to Wayne State's MSN program for Fall 2017 and was wondering if anyone knew when admission decisions would be made? I know the application deadline is June 1st but since classes begin in August, I was wondering if they admit based on a rolling basis or wait until after the application deadline. I had asked a counselor and she didn't really give me a clear answer, so I'm hoping someone knows 😬 Patience is not a virtue I have so the wait is killing me!

Hi! What do you think of the program? How far along are you?

So glad you joined our conversation!

I just started this semester- I transferred in from another university, and start clinical in the fall. So far so good.

What do you think of the distance learning? Do you go to class from home?

Specializes in Psychiatry.

Yes from home. All you need is an internet connection and headphones (and some free software) and you dial in to the classes which typically meet once weekly. I do miss the personal interaction, but not worth driving 150 miles (one way) to have it. It's a great set up really.

I'm glad you like it! For the clinical component will you be expected to live near campus?

Specializes in Psychiatry.

No, clinicals don't need to be near campus. They find you a placement close to your home.

That's awesome! I did not know that!

Have you heard back?

No!! I emailed my contact person and he was very apologetic, stating that this long of a wait is highly unusual.

I take it you haven't heard either??

I have not! On the website it says that they have extended the deadline to July 1. I emailed my contact person and they got back to me really quickly saying that i was a good candidate but they are debating my situation as a new grad so I am hoping the debate ends in my favor :D. Just happy it wasn't a flat out no. Hopefully it doesn't take much longer for us to know :(

Yes, I am starting to doubt the program's level of organization.

It's frustrating :( have you heard back from anywhere else?
