Watts School of Nursing June

Wanted to see who else is going to Watts (Mt Olive) starting in June. I just got my acceptance letter today! Wondering who my fellow classmates will be!

Where did u buy your study cards, etc? Expensive??

Has anyone who was recently accepted heard from the MOC counselor yet?

I bought them on Amazon.com. The anatomy cards were inexpensive. The MedTerm cards were pricey but worth it. Have not heard from MOC yet, just got the letter saying that they will call me.

I bought Medical Terminology for Dummies and it's a really good read. Makes a lot more sense. I've made my own flash cards from that book. Took some time, but it's worth it and it helps me to write things down to remember them. I'm from California too. Grew up Valencia, right outside of LA. OMG!!!! I totally agree with the mexican food thing!!! I would kill for some real carnitas right about now. I actually worked at a mexican restaurant for a bunch of years when I was in my 20's. :redbeathe

Well I'm from Miami, and we have awesome Cuban and mexican food here too!! Once we settle in, maybe we can host a BBQ with Cuban food...

Yea, I already got the letters and did the FAFSA, so just waiting for the call! I have some books, but they're boxed away in storage awaiting NC arrival. Ugh... I guess I might as well buy some new items.

whoa... hang on there guys... we can talk religion and politics HOWEVER!!!! BBQ... now THAT'S taboo!!!! lol... everybody knows that east carolina pulled pork is the best!!!! as far as good mexican food? we have some decent stuff here! and trees! and seasons! Californians please don't despair! AND we have ensure!!!! :yeah:

Ps I think that was jeepinjed's way of wanting to do a potluck getty instead, which is fine by me!! Uhm....do they sell ensure by the case?

Weeeeell... might be able to arrange that... If you guys want to taste some good east carolina pulled pork the gotta be NC agriculture festival is home to the big pig jig, $10 all you can eat and awesome hushpuppies as well as free unleaded beverages!

BUT it does get into the 70's sometimes around Christmas but also has been known to dump a foot of snow!

If everyone wants to get together for a potluck that sounds good to me! I'll even buy the first round of ensure! I can see that being our classes thing! Heck, we might need it by graduation!!! :eek:

When is the festival?

I hope it's a dump of snow this year...we have never seems snow, so it would be tons of fun for us!!

It might be a good idea to get together at some point. We can meet eachother and our families, since we will be spending lots of time together! Let's do a roll call and see who from our June group wants to get together. I won't be in NC till May 6th. We can do it at a park or something ?

Festival is 21 May...

Sounds good... we do have some nice parks here... NC will be a bit of a culture shock I must warn you! We will crash into each other letting someone into traffic! I'm actually not getting back to NC until May myself as i travel all the time for my job.

Everyone feel free to throw out some ideas!!!

Thanks Red! Monday will be exactly 2 weeks so I'm counting down. The only part I'm nervous about is my background check because I got a DWI in 2006 I hope it doesn't hurt my chances. They could decide that I'm to irresponsible and deny me. I'm still keeping the faith!

MrsFlorence- I wouldn't worry about it too much... I'm sure if it's just the one thing it won't be such a big deal...

SO! Potluck? Dates? Times? Locations? Favorite flavor of ensure?

Potluck! Location can be midpoint to everyone once we know who wants in. Since kids will be involved, we should do late morning, hang out, have lunch and people can call it a day at any point after that. Chocolate ensure on the rocks for me!!

MrsFlorence, everyone has a past and I can't imagine they would deny you just based on that without weighing in your other credits!
