Watts School of Nursing June

Published

Wanted to see who else is going to Watts (Mt Olive) starting in June. I just got my acceptance letter today! Wondering who my fellow classmates will be!

what type of article were we supposed to review for psych? one that deals with human development???? just finished happy fun math paper... bleh

you're supposed to review a journal of anything covered/mentioned in the first three chapters. the link i posted in a previous post will take you to a page that will show you reviews of journals that you can read (some require a log-in but you can find one's that don't). i did mine on postpartum depression, for instance.

hope that helps.

thanks jamma! i just got a little turned around! lol...

ok...so I'm a little confused about the article paper we have to write for psych 330.....where are we supposed to find articles about a "study"??? I looked through NCLive and I can find all kinds of articles but none of them are on a "study", they are just articles about the subject....

Any ideas on how to find peer reviewed articles on an actual study of something.....

I feel really stupid. It's probably totally obvious and I'm just thinking too hard on it.

HELP!!!!

ok, i'm confused again too... i know he said something about picking an article on human development???? i know he deviated from the syllabus on this one... sorry jamma looks like i'm confused again...

ok- for example- if you look at this article:

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/07/110704174618.htm

at the bottom of the article (which happens to be a review of the study - exactly what dr. s wants from us) is the referenced study. if you click on the reference, it will take you to the study itself. this particular link isn't very informative but there are some that are. i went through the science daily list and tabbed open a number of study reviews until i found one that interested me and had a solid link of the study.

Red68: Most of what comes up on NCLive is actually studies.

Try this, go to NCLive and enter Cognitive Development in the search box on the left then click go. When it finishes searching and brings results, go over to the right column under "integrated search" and un-check the NetLibrary and General boxes if they're checked (they bring up books and other things we don't want). Then you should have over 15,000 results.

THEN, go to the left hand column under "refine your results" to check "peer-reviewed" AND change the date range to 2000 - 2011. That drops the number of results down to less than 10K.

THEN you can add details to your search next to the AND at the top of the screen - you could add infancy, early childhood or whatever and that will narrow your search.

You should get pretty much all research articles/studies.

Hope it helps.

Submitted my SOC 230 paper #1 with a whopping 55 minutes to spare. Yuck!!! Only 4 more weeks. I need to just knock them all out this week and just post the rest of the time, I really didn't enjoy it.

Anyone else feel like they're reading jibberish in these peer-reviewed studies? My eyes just glaze over:eek: and I want to run away!

droooool... ok, need to focus... read this article!!!

I'm trying to fight my way through way is way past a doctoral level article!!!! ack! it's like they're speaking chinese!!!! don't they do simple papers for dummies like me???

jammamma.... I guess my question is .....when you're on that website, how do you manuever it??? I messed with it for a while and then gave up. I can't seem to find any articles that are what we need.

Hey, all, Someone mentioned that it has to be a subject from the first three chapters???? I did an article about college students. I did not hear him say

the first three chapters. And mine didn't have any real participants, it was just

informational. Hmmmmm. Not going to do another one. Hope this one is okay.

How long are these articles that you guys are finding to do your paper on. I found one that might be ok but it's really short.
