Published

well this is my 2nd year of trying to apply for a nursing program and each year i get partially accepted but not fully because i wasn't randomly chosen by the computer =( im getting really discouraged and trying not to change majors but hell im 25 and i don't want to just sit around and do nothing. So far i already have one degree, and my while education background is focused within the medical field .

so far all my pre-reqs for a community college if fulfilled and at the end of this semester (spring) my pre-reqs for a state school well be finished as well. I don't know what to do anymore.

Oh yea.. and as of right now im looking for RN program and LVN programs

please any advice, tips, opinions can help me not lose my mind.

Thanks in advanced

I agree with dt70

Are you applying to both the ADN and BSN programs? Are the BSN programs also lottery based? I would cast a wider net if possible to see what programs that you can get into. Im applying to 4 BSN and 2 ADN programs just in case I get wait listed or not get in at all I have a backup plan. It couldn't hurt to do a CNA course while you wait so at lease you can gain some experience.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

To how many schools are you applying? You need to cast a WIDE net.

You might also consider taking some other transferable classes to raise your GPA. A language might be a good way to go.

When I applied, I applied to 10 schools, and was accepted into 2. You can't put all your eggs into one basket.

The BSN programs here in CA are HIGHLY competitive, and you'll need AT LEAST a 3.7 to really be considered, so don't waste your money (and time) applying, honestly. But there are a lot of community colleges with ADN programs and lottery systems, so by applying to many of them, your chances increase. About 10% of applicants are accepted into any given program, based on my own research from when I was applying, so by applying to at least 10 really gives you a good chance. Apply anywhere you're willing to live for 2 years.
