Any US Citizens here that graduated nursing abroad?

U.S.A. Washington

Hello everyone,

I'm a graduate of nursing from the Philippines, but born and raised in California, USA.

As a part of some states requirements, i've read that some require taking the TOEFL.

Would I, as an american citizen, still need to take that test? (not that i'm worried about taking it, LOL)

If anyone has gone through this process, or any info about this, please please please let me know as my CGFNS CES report has already been issued for Washington State.

Thank you so much!

The language requirements have nothing to do with citizenship and everything to do with where you got your education (and whether it was in English or not). Your being an American citizen won't make any difference.

thank you for your reply! i was just wondering because i have seen from some different resources/forums that being a US Citizen can maybe bypass the TOEFL.

thank you for letting me know so :)

You'll still have to take the English Proficiency exam in WA state, I think you can take IELTS or TOEFL. I did IELTS tho.

How is it?

Did you take IELTS or TOEFL?

I graduated outside of US too..

Hello,

I am a German citizen and will be graduating from an American Nursing school in Ohio in about 3 weeks. My question is will I still need to take the TOEFL before taking the NCLEX even though I completed nursing school here?

On the Board of Nursing website it states that foreign educated nurses will have to take it.

Thank you in advance.

Angela
