George Washington University ABSN Sample Schedule

U.S.A. Washington DC

Published

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone who is in the accelerated BSN program at GW or someone who already completed the program could provide me with a sample schedule of how courses, labs, and clinicals are laid out in a typical week (what days of the weeks classes/labs/clinicals were, how many hours they were each). I know each semester is different with the number of credits, but anything will be helpful! As a mother to a young child, I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into before applying and so I can get a plan in place.

Thank you so much!

Hi JainieS - We have several parents in my cohort and they appear to be managing quite well with the course load. During the first semester, you take Med-Surg, Pharmacology, Transitions to Nursing, and Health Assessment. Health assessment and Med-Surg also have labs once a week. Clinicals are once a week. Open lab is an optional window of time to practice your skills.

Altogether, this semester I had class on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 am - 1 pm at the latest. On Friday I had all-day clinicals. I would have a 3-day weekend because I had no class on Monday.

Hope that helps!

Thank you so much @totoroll! This is very helpful. I really appreciate it!

Hello! I have just recently been accepted and I was just wondering if the first semester is typically Monday through Thursday? Does the school make the schedule for you or do you make your own schedule?

Thank you!
