how do you wash your scrubs?

Published

After all these posts, I started thinking.. yuck.. there maybe bacteria living in the same washer I use for my family. Yes I wash my scrubs seperately but I know hot water doesn't kill everything.. so what do you do then? Dry clean? I never put much thought in it..

I work in the OR. Wash my scrubs at home with other permapress clothes - no special care. (unless they get grossly bloodied, then the hospital washes them, or I bag 'em and wash them separately a home) I'm never sick.

hmmmm...hadn't really thought much about it. My biggest concern is that all my scrubs are black and I don't want them to end up *really* faded after a few washes...they go in cold water with woolite for darks and then the gentle cycle in the dryer.

I wash my scrubs in cold water and dry them with high heat. My scrubs are washed and dried with my regular laundry.

I'm a nursing student. what i do is as soon as i get home, i remove them all and my mother washes them separately with bleach and tosses them off in the dryer and hangs them out so they could all get dried in the sun. all our clothes are dried in the sun so maybe the sun's rays kill those bacteria in my scrubs.
