I worked as a unit clerk per diem and every other weekend for a year now. I asked my supervisor if I can become a nursing assistant. She told me training would be for 2 weeks and said if I can really do it, then I can go for training since I'm already in the nursing program. I told her I would do it. I was thinking of going for training and go to my classes right after since I take evening classes. A week before my orientation started I had my evaluation with her. she said I did a great job and even asked me about the transfer to the nursing assistant position. she asked me how i would train if i was in school. i told her i had class at 5:30 so i can leave right after my training. she said that is great.
today was the last day of orientation and i find out my schedule. she says i need to train 1 week for the day shift and the week after the evening shift. i told i couldn't because of my school schedule in which i cannot take off. she got a little upset and says she told me it would be for 2 weeks and i told her i would do it. i told her yes, because i thought it was during the day shift since ive been working the day shift and she didnt even mention it during the evaluation. she told me that i should i just do it over the summer and there was another person who came to her office so i had to leave. when i got home, i emailed her what im writing here. she said there was no choice because i needed to train for 2 weeks. i emailed her back if i can do the 2 weeks in a few weeks when i have my spring break so i can do the evening shifts then. she didn't reply yet.
was i at fault here???

I think you had a genuine misunderstanding. I don't think you deliberately misled her, nor did she intend to mislead you. However, since she is in the position of authority, it was her responsibility to clarify the details. She failed to do so and has now spent time and money on training that you can't complete on schedule. She's probably taking some heat for that, but if she is an upstanding person, she'll admit her mistake to both you and her superiors and work something out.
My best to you.
