WARNING: Phoenix area is a TOUGH market for new grads

Published

I've come across several postings fairly recently from new grads wanting to move to the Phoenix area and I want to make them aware that the job market here is very competitive. Unless you are an experienced nurse, have great luck, or a strong hospital contact, new grad hospital positions are very hard to come by. I know several that have had to leave the area to find jobs.

I'm not trying to be a downer, but in this economy Phoenix is NOT the place a new grad wants to be.

i work for banner now and you do not NEED your BSN and you do not NEED to be enrolled. But being enrolled does help you get the job over someone else. Try applying to a med surge floor instead of ICU or PCU you are more likely to get that

Thanks so much! My "dream job" would be somewhere in WIS or NICU, but since I don't have my BSN yet I know I can't be picky. I just want to get in the Banner system, I don't care how I have to do it. I'll start my BSN one day in the near future, but now isn't the right time.

Thanks again!

I work at the children's ER at banner desert its amazing! NICU is not all its cracked up to be but the ER is a really good place to start

I know the post is a little dated. but I still have the same issue as you had in 2012! I still have not found anything for new graduates. I am planning to move there because my husband has a job in a hospital there, but the they just do not like new grads.
