Wanting to get into an LVN program in Dallas

Hi I'm in Dallas tx and i was wanting to getInto a lvn program i heard that Collin comm College offer it cheaper than anywhere else Is there any other community collages that Offer it in dallas tx area when does the class start??

Collin has a two year RN program (ASN) and a bridge program for LVNs that want to become RNs. It is very inexpensive (relatively speaking) and VERY competitive for entry with over 300 applicants for a general class size of about 48 people. El Centro and Brookhaven (both are schools with Dallas County Community College) both have ASN programs as well and both are, of course, VERY competitive to get in as well.

Of course, your best source of information will be the schools themselves. They have all the information you need on their websites.

Collin County College does not offer a straight generic LVN program. The school offers an RN completion program for students who are already licensed as LVNs.

Weatherford College, North Central Texas College, Hill College, and a couple of other community colleges offer LVN programs.

Collin County Community College DOES NOT offer the LVN program. El Centro (Downtown Dallas) offers the LVN program but it is just as competitive as their RN program. I don't know how much you are willing to spend after you finish school but there are other alternatives/schools for the LVN program in Dallas. Besides El Centro, Dallas Nursing Institute, Platt College and Concorde Career College in Dallas and Arlington also offers the LVN program. Concorde has a little bit of a waiting list and they let you know if you have been accepted into the program two weeks before it starts. Dallas Nursing Institute has classes starting year round but the tuition for other schools besides El Centro, which is the cheapest route, is at least $20K-$30K to complete the program. El Centro has pre-reqs to be completed before entering the program and rigorous entrance to the program due to so many applicants. It all depends on how bad and how fast you want to become a nurse. Besides El Centro, Dallas Nursing Institute, Platt College and Concorde Career College in Dallas and Arlington also offers the LVN program.
Platt College closed their Dallas campus recently due to several years of low NCLEX passing rates in a row. It's a shame that people spend $28k in tuition only to be rendered unemployable in the end.

Wow that is sad. I went to Platt years ago to check out their program and they were very rude to me so I did not sign up. Not sure if that has anything to do with encouraging their students and helping them but #shrugs, now their is one less school for us in DFW.

Universal Health Services operates an LVN program in Fort Worth (the owner accepts cash or private student loan disbursements only), and I believe Fortis has a program in or near Grand Prairie.

Grayson County Community College has an LVN program.

$20-30K for an LVN is beyond foolish.
