How long does it normally take - from start to finish - to get a ADN? Thank you.

Technically, they take 2 years. But with the waiting lists being long (several years long sometimes) it may take longer. Some schools wont look at you until you have prerequisites completed.
Thank you! I checked w/the school I want to attend, and lucky for me they do not have a waiting list. What a blessing. Thanks again.

You have to do the pre-reqs first, and while your school may not have a waiting list, they may have specific requirments it takes to get in, like a minimun GPA, my school has over 1000 people applying for only 100 spots. It took me a little over 2 years to finish my pre-reqs and then an extra year of applying to schools (I applied for 3 years while working on pre-reqs) then I finally got into a program and the program is 2 years long.
Look at all the schools in your area, most schools have similar requirments and there application requirments

I realize this advice is unsolicited, but it is something I learned the hard way. If you are not already, get a job as a pt care tech or CNA first. I had no medical experience and it made it a lot harder. I didnt know what a Foley was, or how to empty one, I didnt know how to help with ADL's, etc. I didnt know what any of the terms meant and it takes a while to learn these things. I really believe that it would have helped me out a lot.I hope this helps and I wish you all the luck! :)

Most schools are two years, but as someone mentioned you might need a year of prerequisites. I did, even though I already had a degree.
I was a sick little kid and remember the great nurses (and doctors) I had. I'd like to get into pediatrics, too. I was at a friend's house the other day and playing with her three-year old. If I could really specialize, it would be with talkative three year olds. They are so much fun!
Good luck and keep us posted,
Tom
